Yes. I think the UK tour that they did not too long ago. They had several male performers play her including the late great Paul O'Grady

Get the cast of Hacks-Jean Smart or Megan Stalter as Miss Hannigan, Tony Goldwyn or Christopher McDonald as Warbucks, Poppy Liu or Megan Stalter as Lily, Paul Downs as Rooster and Robby Hoffman as FDR. Easy Street would be a hoot!!!! Seats. Would. Be. Filled.

Here's a question: do we get the harmonies back? The original production and the movie are full of elaborate "big Broadway harmonies." Those have been pared away little by little over the years towards a "boisterous unison" sound, only breaking into full harmony at a few points in the show. If you compare the Broadway score to the published vocal score, and then scores from revivals and various licensing editions over the years, the vocal lines have been simplified more and more; both times I've done Annie, the MD has said "veterans, do you remember any of the harmony parts that aren't in the score anymore," and written them back in.

I am curious what a Patti Lupone could do to a Miss Hannigan. I absolutely agree that its going to have to be a name in the role to sell. I wonder if they would go like "Hollywood" for the role. Wasn't there talk back in 2014 about Sutton Foster in the role?

I have to give a shout out to George Dwyer's gorgeous orchestrations for the recent UK production that's played west end and tour.

In the sense that it would be horrendous casting? Sure.

Surely Ariana Grande and Jonathan Bailey left Sunday in the Park with George so they could star in this as Annie and Daddy Warbucks respectively. Cynthia Erivo will be Hannigan. Catherine Zeta Jones is Grace. Richard Gere and Rene Zellweger will be Rooster and Lily. Anna Kendrick will be Molly.
