Wishing, the artwork actually reminds me of the teaser poster for the Friday the 13th remake...

^Holly, I agree. I'm starting to finally notice how seriously sexy Ramin is, and with a fantastic voice to boot!
re: Priscilla Queen of the Desert Will Strut to Broadway in Early 2011

Holbee, I see your point. I really do. It's almost the same argument some have made about reality tv ruining the quality of broadcast television.

With that being said; however, I don't necessarily subscribe to the ideology that support for this show will deter other creative artists from producing something wholly original, nor do I believe it will prevent such productions coming to Broadway.

If anything Next To Normal and In The Heights are proof of this. As I see it, t

eatlasagna, To Wong Foo had Blade, Johnny Castle and Clown (from Spawn).

Priscilla had General Zod, Elrond and the guy from Memento (Guy Pearce). hope that helps, hehe.

Personally, I look forward to this production as well because I loved the movie.

blaxx, do you predict flop (ala Taboo) or hit (Billy Elliot). and i ask in sincerity (because i enjoy your witty posts).
re: 'Wicked' National Tour Questions
 Oct 2 2009, 09:11:24 AM
^I would be curious to know that too. I saw the 2nd National Tour on a stage that was actually bigger than the one where I saw the 1st National Tour.

The set took up the stage both times so I found it odd that the 2nd tour's set is supposedly smaller (if that makes any sense).

I guess it's all a matter of perspective.

In The Heights Tour Cast Announced

I'm excited about Rogelio Douglas Jr. and Natalie Toro. I'm not familiar with the rest of the cast, but look forward to their performances as well.

re: Twentieth Century Boy- Marc Bolan

Will Swenson can definitely pull off Bolan.

I think the show could work if done in the style of Hedwig and the Angry Inch (smaller scale, intimate setting).

Personally, I think it might work better as an indie film in the style of Velvet Goldmine; however.

re: Big in New York, Flop in London (and vice versa?)

Were Taboo and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang hits in London? They were notorious flops when they transferred to Broadway.
re: Blankenbeuhler, Kitt, Whitty, Miranda, and Green Set for BRING IT ON

According to the Playbill article:

A 2000 Universal Pictures movie of the same name was a hot title that spawned sequels; the new musical uses that title and is set in the cheer world, but the plot is new.

So can this even be called an adaptation if all they are using is the title and setting?

Plus nothing clearly states it will be Broadway bound. The article also mentions:

A developmental regional production is expected in early 2011, with a national tour to

re: Zadan, Meron, Shaiman and Wittman To Team With Showtime and Spielberg For Broadway Based Series (Will Then Go To Broadway)

What I found most interesting is this is a fictionalized account of producing a real Broadway aimed show (with plans to do this for more shows in the future).

Art imitating life imitating art?

re: Liza At The Palace -Filmed For PBS ....and DVD!

I'm really excited this concert is being captured on film. I saw the show on Broadway last December as well and had a fantastic time.

I'm assuming; however, that the most moving moment (for me at least) won't be a part of the repertoire? Her rendition of "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" that she sang at the end?

This particular song struck me on a personal level because I had just lost my mom earlier in the year and hearing her sing this song in tribute to her own

Next year, Spider-Man in NY; Superman in Dallas...

Slated for the newly renamed Dallas Center for the Performing Arts next year:

a revised version of the Charles Strouse and Lee Adams musical It's a Bird...It's a Plane...It's Superman with a new version of the original David Newman-Robert Benton book by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (June 18 - July 25, 2010).

re: A teaser for Love Never Dies has been posted on the website...

Effective teaser in that it's gotten my attention...but I guess time will tell if the end result will be worth it.

Count me in the open minded category as well.

It seems circus/freakshows are all the rage this Fall, what with this, the movie Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant and the carnival themed chapter of the tv show Heroes all coming out practically at the same time.

Sorta makes me yearn for a Barnum revival, like...right now.

re: Bye Bye 'Jersey Boys' Chicago
 Sep 9 2009, 11:29:03 PM
I had the pleasure of catching this production twice last year.

Anyone know what will be stepping into the Bank of America (name of the week) Theater after Jersey Boys exits?

I usually stay at that Hampton Inn Majestic when I'm in Chicago, hence my curiousity.
