Have you guys actually heard the other nominated songs, or are you just comparing Skyfall to Suddenly before declaring it the winner? It's a pretty mediocre song in my opinion, which was also the general concensus on this board when it first came out. No James Bond theme has won before...so why now? Because it's Adele.
I'm also looking forward to hearing Norah Jones sing "Everybody Needs A Friend" from Ted at the ceremony. I haven't heard the other nominated song from Chasing Ice.
Beyoncé is not an ally. Actions speak louder than words, Mrs. Carter. #Dubai #$$$
Adele's SKYFALL is the best Bond theme song since Carly Simon's "Nobody Does it Better" for THE SPY WHO LOVED ME in 1977.
Also, this is the 50th anniversary of the Bond series and there will be a tribute at the Oscar ceremony with all six Bonds (Connery, Lazenby, Moore, Dalton, Brosnan and Craig) expected to attend.
Suddenly is a trifling lullaby that is completely indistinct.
Before My Time is a sub-par country song whose inclusion is a total mystery.
Pi's Lull.....oh sorry I fell asleep there for a sec.
Everybody Needs A Best Friend - the best of the lot, but no way is it winning.
Skyfall - I'll be honest, I like it. It's a good song, but it does sound like every other James Bond song ever written. Which isn't a bad thing necessarily, but it's weird that this is the first one to be singled out since All Time High.
Skyfall wins because the film is much admired and everyone loves Adele (even though she isn't actually nominated).
Had Les Miz added a song of some consequence I suspect it would have been the front runner.
