I haven't seen DRS, Spelling Bee, or any of the others, but The Producers was funnier than Spamalot. (Although both were great)

DRS!

Avenue Q is up there...

but of anything, and this of course is the funniest play...I have never laughed harder than I did at Jewtopia.

Actually can't let this thread pass by w/o some sort of notable mention for My Fair Lady...considered one of the truly best bway musicals of all time and probably one of the most intelligently written.

"If there was a Mount Rushmore for Broadway scores, "West Side Story" would be front and center. It snaps, it crackles it pops! It surges with a roar, its energy and sheer life undiminished by the years" - NYPost reviewer Elisabeth Vincentelli

Having played Hero in Forum before I can definitely vouch for this show being one of my favorite comedies. Every night I performed in it was a blast!

Other comedies I love are:
--The Pajama Game--the bits with Hines are hilarious--especially the scene where he can't keep his pants on!
--Guys and Dolls
--Avenue Q
--Smoke on the Mountain--I played Rev. Oglethorpe in both versions of this show and the audience went crazy for them. When reading the script it doesn't appear as funny as it really is. I did the show down here in NC so I guess it really appealed to a lot of the audience since they could relate to it.

I left off Kiss Me, Kate...a great classic musical comedy. I have never laughed so hard when I saw the recent revival...of course that partly could be attributed to the wine I had with my dinner at Sardi's.... :)

You Can't Take It With You

and

Scapino (with Jim Dale, 1974-75)

the second act of Noises Off (as performed in 1983)

Urinetown (especially for theatre geeks)and Producers
never seen Avenue Q, but I'm sure its hilarious as well.

Another funny show, certainly not my favorite comedy, Hairspray has quite a few funny lines.

I am not Tony winner Dan Fogler.

-Dre-
You must remember all the same that at the crux of every game is knowing when it's time to leave the table... And it's important to be artful in your exit. No turning back, you must accept the con is done... It was a ball, it was a blast. And it's a shame it couldn't last. But every chapter has to end, you must agree.
~Dirty Rotten Scoundrels~

There's a special kind of people known as show people. We live in a world full of dreams. Sometimes we're not too certain what's false and what's real. But we're seldom in doubt about what we feel.
~Curtains~

It is a far, far better thing I do, than I have ever done; it is a far, far better rest I go to, than I have ever known.
