I've been listening to the Sh-k-boom sampler to BARE and I was wondering what the plot was. I don't get how "one" fits it, I thought Jason was gay. It's confusing! So if someone could share the plot and how these songs fit in. Thanks!
In a nutshell: Jason is gay and is secretly dating Peter. Since they're in high school, and a catholic school no less Jason is highly uncomfortable with his sexuality. Ivy has a HUGE crush on Jason even though Matt is head over heels for her. "One" happens at the end of Act I (I believe... I don't have the playbill on me) right before Spring Break. Peter has left already and Jason gives into the pressures of Ivy and playing the straight man. Through the show, Peter struggles with telling his mom (and others) as he is comfortable with who he is. Jason wants to keep it all a secret; Peter doesn't. Also in the show is Nadia ("A Quiet Night at Home"), who is Jason's sister. She is heavier, less popular (she believes) and has self esteem issues. It is eluded to in the show that they've all been in school together since elementary grades, and all have a tight bond and history. Hope that helps a bit. I'm sure someone will post more! I don't mind writing an entire synopsis (I loved the show, by the way - the CD sampler is fantastic but is only a fraction of the show, plus the tracks are not in show order). But do you want an ENTIRE synopsis, or one without spoilers?

Aww, don't tell the spoilers. I saw it twice and the second act is, well, very intense. Although its important to realize that the CD sampler doesn't have the songs in the order they're in the show.In the show the order (of those songs) is:
