Shuffle Along Reunion Concert

On September 27th, Staged as a part of the Legacies of San Juan Hill Festival, Shuffle Along will feature stars Audra McDonald, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Billy Porter, Adrienne Warren, and Brandon Victor Dixon returning, along other to-be-announced cast members. The concert will, like the 2016 revival, be directed by Wolfe and will feature acclaimed tap dancer and choreographer Savion Glover.

Member Pre-sale: September 2 at noon ($500 and up level only)

General On-sale: September 9 at noon

To make the arts more accessible, general tickets are available on a "choose what you pay" basis. It starts at 5 dollars.

This will be an incredible concert. Looking forward!

Shuffle Along Reunion Concert

Shuffle Along remains one of the most thrilling pieces of musical theatre I have ever seen. This is a must-see for me.

Edit: Had to pull up the show discussion thread from ten years ago, which I think remains one of the best discussions ever on this board and is probably one of the best resources regarding this musical.

Re: Shuffle Along Reunion Concert

George pls make some revisions and give us a version that can be licensed. If you remove biomusicals we have had two new Black broadway musicals since Shuffle Along. One of them being Paradise Square. We (the Black theater community outside of NYC) neeeeed a new show available for licensing. I cannot sit through another production of The Wiz.

Although I guess Shuffle Along is technically a biomusical just not of a superstar. Hmmmmm.

This is a concert, not a full production. Although Wolfe and Glover are involved.

Re: Shuffle Along Reunion Concert

Saw the first preview of this…I remember someone commented during intermission that this was longer than The Iceman Cometh 😆

Still one of the most exhilarating nights in theatre I’ve ever experienced. And what a cast!

i'm a little surprised they've chosen to snub Friends under $500. i totally get giving higher tier donors access before lower tier donors, but to not offer the lower tiers *anything* feels like a breach of good faith.

The Suitcase Dance, for lack of a better way to describe it, remains my favorite dance number of any show. I have spent time trying to track it down online, to no avail. (I once found a version on a TV show but it wasn’t the same.)

One of the fascinating, albeit frustrating things about the show is that it kept changing throughout previews. I saw it after the long break but before later changes, so I felt like I never saw the final musical.

That’s reflected well in the Shuffle Along preview discussion thread.

Seeing Shuffle Along and Hamilton on consecutive nights changed my attitude about theater and what it could pull off. The Shuffle Along cast was the most absurdly talented cast I had ever seen. It still might be.

Re: Shuffle Along Reunion Concert

What a fantastic idea for a reunion concert, the historical impact of Shuffle Along on Broadway is truly something to celebrate! I've been spending so much time recently sifting through old historical https://baycountycourt.org for a research project that seeing a live performance sounds like the perfect break. It is so important to honor the trailblazing artistry of the original creators. I really hope a cast album or video recording of the event is eventually released for everyone to enjoy!

Re: Shuffle Along Reunion Concert

The one show that should have had a cast recording. I'm lucky to have seen the production 4 times during its short run. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Hey Dottie! Did your colleagues enjoy the cake even though your cat decided to sit on it? ~GuyfromGermany

Re: Shuffle Along Reunion Concert

Going to become a member for this one as I'm desperate to get tickets. Could someone help with a few questions I had? Tried calling on the phone for clarification but I keep getting the run-around.

1. Is there a specific membership I need to get, or just anything over $500?
2. If I wanted to get 2 tickets during member pre-sale, do I need 2 memberships?
