Re: SPRING AWAKENING at Studio Seaview (Off-Broadway)

When they first went on sale this morning, there was $99 and $129 price level seats - these levels increased to $115 and $158. I believe $179 was the highest price level when they first went on sale and now there's $199 and $229 price levels.

I panic bought a ticket for the end of January (thankfully got the $79 price). I'm eager to see who the cast is.

Constantly-shifting dynamic pricing makes me want to launch myself into the sun. I was looking for tickets for my mom and I an hour ago, and $115 seats are now $129 and mostly gone. I hate it here.

Should seriously be illegal. Don’t understand.

I’m lol-ing at that cast headshot reveal. Looks like Ryo Kambiayashi and Amalia Yoo are recognizable from the post. Not exactly “unknowns” which I expected Danya to do…..

She quite literally is a Drama Desk Award WINNER yo. Not an unknown. An 18 year old from Bumf*ck, NJ that came out to the city just to audition for this and has only done high school theater is an unknown. Let's call this what it always was, those open auditions were a PR stunt.

Also others that Reddit has possibly identified include Amalia Yoo (JPITV DD Winner), Ashlyn Maddox (Parade Broadway), Ryo Kambiayashi (Oh Mary/Pirates/Outsiders), Lilliana Valencia (the only somewhat unknown on here being a recent Pace grad), Tyler Jordan Wesley (Outsider Tour), Nicholas Barron (Ragtime) as possible matches to the cast sneak peek that was emailed out earlier today. Interested to see what the final count will be of actual unknowns vs. established NY actors with good managers.

Ya gotta get a gimmick, as they say.

Re: SPRING AWAKENING at Studio Seaview (Off-Broadway)

Finally got the email (in junk). Picked up $150 or something seats - 2nd row near the stage right side. But there are no bad views at Seaview.

Excited to see this in January!

Re: SPRING AWAKENING at Studio Seaview (Off-Broadway)

So are the rumors of casting the likes of Joe Locke, Jack Wolfe, and Sadie Sink entirely dead now? I will eagerly see it either way, but if it's a cast of all new people, I imagine I'll be glad to have not bought tickets during the pre-sale, based on the prices I'm hearing about here.

Hot take: I don't get the outrage over the (assumed) non-casting of "unknowns" from the open auditions. This is a commercial, major Off-Broadway production -- not a summer camp production. They opened auditions for everyone, which is admirable, but still no guarantee any of those seen would land a role. And who's to say that the multitudes seen were better than everyone else, professional or otherwise, that auditioned? Many productions, on and off Broadway, hold open calls -- this production just promoted that fact, but with no guarantee of casting solely from that.

Very much this. People from an open call still then have to be better than actors they see at appointments/agent auditions. They don't designate a role as THIS WILL BE THE ROLE FROM THE OPEN CALL.
