I obviously have no issue with people staying employed, but I do not understand this new business model of a show performing to half empty houses for months and then announcing a closing 3+ months away, which they likely keep losing money.

It makes sense. They’ll see a bump thanks to the closing announcement and the holidays and the theater will be occupied in an otherwise undesirable time to open new shows.

Honestly, it made me less interested in seeing it live. I had been putting it off because the idea of a 70 minute long themed concert didn't really appeal to me. I saw the filmed version and thought it was fine, but it confirmed my reservations about spending live theatre prices on it. It definitely wasn't my cup of tea.

I thought this was an okay show, not great, I think it lost its luster pretty early in its Broadway life.
I’m not ashamed to admit I had more fun at DIANA, though SIX is far and away the better-written show.

Also, SIX is the better show, but Marlow and Moss’s own WHY AM I SO SINGLE? has the better and more varied score.

Staying open through Christmas is often a good bet and can wash away some losses from the fall.
I was going to say they could benefit from a slim fall season, but then I looked and as of mid-December there will be 23 musicals running on Broadway (plus two musical-sized plays based on IP) - which feels robust. That number could be much lower by MLK weekend.

Lasting 4+ years (EDIT: 5+ years by closing!) after opening in the midst of the pandemic is nothing to scoff at. Plus it has been one of the few new musicals to recoup post-covid.
Yes, it's limped along for awhile now but it had a strong and successful run.

The show will also be very popular with regional and community groups once the licensing rights open up, which I imagine will probably happen not long after the Broadway closure.
Between that, the tour, and the proshot this show will have had a very impressive legacy, whether it moves off-Broadway or not.

It had quite a long and was really successful run on Broadway. I hope it has a long run in regional theaters all over the world, it's a fun, incredibly creative show with wonderful women at the helm.

I fear for every cast member involved yet wish them the best of luck… this show is a b*tch on the vocal cords, and even the pros have said it’s a deceptively difficult 80-minute cardio workout.

Six was the last musical I saw before the shutdown and the first I saw after reopening. It holds a special place in my heart. Congrats to the Queens on a great run!
