Uh ... so I’ve seen extensive clips. Is this like a Spice Girls concert? Bc that’s what it looks like.

I am 43 and I love this show. Everyone around me tonight and when I saw it in Chicago last July were also adults who were fully engaged with the show.

Welcome to Broadway, SIX! Tonight far exceeded my expectations. It did seem like they’ve updated the lighting. I also thought the costumes may have been tweaked a bit but I have to look at my old photos to confirm.

I thought the show itself was pretty much the same as what I saw in Chicago except this was an awesome audience so there was a lot of allowing for applause and such. No filming of the mega six but I thought it was interesting there was also no formal announcement not to. There was only a blurb in the Playbill. I didn’t see a single person filming the entire night except for the show itself.

I was in the Rear Orchestra Center Aisle seat and had a perfect view. I also noticed SRO behind the House right section. Not sure if it was on the Left too. The ushers were standing in the back watching the show the entire time as were some of the upstairs bartenders. Fun to see.

Everyone there received a pin with tonight’s date so that was nice. Merch has been updated a bit from Chicago. The magnet I bought in Chicago was vertical and said Divorced Beheaded Live In Concert. The magnet I bought tonight said Divorced Beheaded Broadway and was horizontal. Lots of the merch said Broadway on it. There is a gorgeous brand new program available already which I also bought.

Stage door looked insane so I was on my train out of Penn Station at 9:48. I’ll be playing lottery for this one often.

Agreed. We saw it in London a few weeks ago. My 71 year old husband LOVED it. As did I. We have tickets for NY in May. (Which we may still put on Stubhub if another show demands to be seen instead. But it'd be a hard sell to my husband)

WOW.

So, I traveled to Chicago to see this show, caught it again during its run in Boston, and have anxiously awaited its arrival in New York. As many others have said, tonight was absolutely electric. The cast was in top form, the improvements to costumes and lighting were STUNNING (the details!), and it really felt like a homecoming. The book and score is almost identical to previous versions, aside from one or two tiny references to the new lighting effects.

Merchandise-wise, there was so much more than I was even able to take in. But they're incredibly smart in making six different designs in both tote bags and gorgeous enamel pins (one for each queen) so people can either purchase their favorite, or try to collect them all (I admittedly got two enamel pins myself).



Edit: I forgot to mention the extended standing ovation after I Don't Need Your Love, which did make me tear up a bit.



Edit 2: Worth bringing up, stage door was incredibly crowded and loud but everyone was very polite and happy to make space without pushing. One of the least stressful "dooring" experiences I've had, aside from the cold.

I sat in Row J Center Mezz and was surprised at how great the view is. I normally never sit mezzanine but wanted to see this show on opening night and was pretty shocked at how close it felt/looked.

But I think this is a show that doesn't necessarily need to be too close to the stage unless you want it to feel more like a concert and get more involved. I enjoyed seeing all the lighting and the dance formations.

Everyone around me was having the time of their life, too. I've never been to a show with so much energy. It was amazing.

I agree with what everyone has been reporting - it was an amazing night, with incredible energy and amazing performances. I was in a box seat (rush) and didn't feel like it was a partial view at all - I could see facial expressions perfectly while still seeing the full choreography and enjoying their interactions with the front audience. All of the costumes have been redesigned. Some changes are subtle while others, like Cleves, are not. Their shoes are also new/different and the tights are sparkly! As people mentioned, the lighting has been ramped up and I also swore there were a few choreography changes from Chicago, but it might have just been the size of the stage.

I did stage door after and the creative team (writers and directors) signed along with the full cast and the alternates. It was a little pushy at times but everyone was polite and the cast was super happy to chat with people, clearly very excited.
