I don’t see it lasting 7 seasons. Not because of Rowling but because you simply can’t strike lightening in a bottle twice and the audience will dwindle in favor of the films.

The show itself has a rainbow showbill this month despite the lack of inclusion from the creator.

It seems fairly likely that somewhere among the producers, creative team, or cast of almost every show, are one or more people whose viewpoints some might find offensive or reprehensible. People will vary in how they respond as we see here time and time again.

Here you go again Jay, sometimes in the words of the song by Kenny Rogers you have to know when to "fold them". Nothing you or anybody else say or do is going to affect JK Rowling. She is super rich and the Harry Potter brand keeps rolling along. Like others have said, this is entertainment website and to expect them not to report on a show is absurd. They are not in business to judge the beliefs of the creator of shows. You have made your point numerous times on this board, and everyone agrees with you about JK Rowling as a person. If you think anything is going to change, I disagree.

I would never tell anyone to stop fighting the fight. Keep on keeping on, Jay.

I know a bunch of queer and trans artists that have been involved in Cursed Child and, knowing how awful this business is, I'd never judge them for doing what is necessary to make it in this world.

But Joanne makes it really f*cking hard to separate the art from the artists when she is so brazenly using her massive wealth that as come from this franchise to fund efforts to make trans people's lives more difficult. She is a shameful person and I truly hope nothing good every happens to her again.

As do I. He's a lovely guy, who I'm sure would hate JK Rowling. I don't judge anybody for enjoying it. Just try to not financially support it if you give a sh!t about trans people is all I’m saying… and if you support it, ask yourself do you deserve to fly the Pride flag.

i dunno, i’ve been reading this site since 2010 and never felt like posting, but i’ve seen a fair few of jay’s posts on this subject over the years and finally feel compelled to speak.

so, context: i’m a stagehand and i opened harry potter on broadway (back when the code name was “train times”) and ran the show until the pandemic hit. also i’m trans.

and even in 2018 there was a certain cognitive dissonance that went along with this employment, but nobody working at the lyric and supporting the show was onboard with jk’s terfiness and honestly it felt sort of satisfying to know that it would irritate her to know she was supporting my life ^_*

so here’s what i think about this. it’s one thing to separate the art from the artist when it comes to what we like; i like tool’s early albums and still listen to them, they were important to me when i was a kid and there are a lot of good memories associated.

but it’s another thing to give money to people who use that money for objectively evil purposes, and it’s simply the truth that rowling is using her money to assist in the oppression and destruction of trans people. and we have a moral responsibility to avoid supporting her in this detestable mission.

so jay, you’re obviously right to point out the contradiction of bww flying the flag and continuing to platform jk, they are trying to have it both ways. and to some of the rest of you, your lack of empathy for your trans siblings is noted. and don’t make the mistake of thinking you won’t be targetted once they’re done with us.
