Evita into the Winter Garden, Other Desert Cities into the Hudson. The Broadhurst has nothing announced? Or am i forgetting something?

Only 27 Broadway houses are now occupied. The end of summer typically sees some closures, but it just feels like there will be several empty houses until the Spring.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

I heard rumor of a stop clause being the main reason Cats closed (from a decent source but I don't know that for a fact). I don't understand why the Shuberts would force closure it in August if nothing was booked until spring 2027. Unless there's an unannounced short run in the fall as well we aren't aware of.

I think we're going to see lots of empty buildings. Investors are running scared so it's harder than ever to raise capitalization.

Broadhurst, Barrymore, St James, Majestic, Lunt Fontanne, Al Hirschfeld and the Booth are the open theaters available this fall. Majestic, St James, Lunt Fontanne, and Al Hirschfeld are booked this spring.

Meaning the other 14 are dark - but of those, only 3 (Booth, Barrymore, Broadhurst) don’t have a confirmed future tenant at the moment.

Word on the street is that Scott Rudin has two incoming productions filling two of these three houses, one being DOWNSTATE. Not sure what the other is.

This must be the very-real 42nd Street starring Sarah Jessica Parker, Oscar Isaac, and Sabrina Carpenter, rewritten by a Coen brother, choreographed by Michelle Dorrance, and directed by Richard Jones, of course 😜 and maybe it'll be set in New Orleans like Gypsy.

42nd Street for the Broadhurst and Downstate for the Booth.
Barrymore is odd man out until Private Lives arrives next spring.

Even if Dolly ultimately is unsuccessful, I think it's very unlikely it'll be close before the Tonys.

As far as I'm concerned DOLLY has the St. James through next summer at least. It opens Jan 19, there's a lot of ego and money involved, there might be decent sales for the first couple months, AND - maybe most importantly - the landlord is the lead producer. ATG is not going to kick itself out.
I don't really believe that this Rudin 42nd Street is actually happening, but it seems odd that it would not open in a Shubert house, given his close personal relationship with Wankel and the Shubert team. He hasn't produced in a non-Shubert house since 2016.

42nd Street wouldn't be until Spring 2028. Does Dreamgirls still want to sneak in this season?

He was working on Montauk by David Hare but I guess they had creative differences and now MTC is producing it. The other play was Cottonfield by Bruce Norris. I wonder if Bruce said, first we do Downstate, then we do Cottonfield. I doubt they’d both come in during the same season.
