i revisited "barefoot in the park" because this play will close shortly, i loved it. then saw "lestat" at night and i was surprised with the lovely new score by elton john. i didn't love the show and i didn't hate it. hugh panaro is just fantastic and the rest of the cast are really amazing in it! "entertaining mr. sloane" was very funny and disturbing at the same time. alec baldwin is a very versatile actor, he can do anything. barbara sims was excellent as well, really amazing, she has been understudying the role for a while and it feels her own. "hot feet" tonight had excellent dancers in it, i was exausted just looking at them doing their job, i wanna read what the critics have to say about this.

wanna be a foster...im still waiting for ur response...haha...ur joke about aida was hilarious...hehe, and by the way, i do agree with most critics when it comes to hot feet, unfortunatly the show didnt work for me either. i loved festen today, the critics were mixed about this play, it had a few raves i read. ms. marguiles and mr. hayden were simply amazing in it.

ok...3 days of rain was probably the worst play i have seen in a long time, the acting was ok, although my friend thought that paul rudd and bradley cooper overacted, i think the acting was fine, even robert's acting was fine, but what a bad vehicle for julia to make her broadway debut, even donald trump and his gorgeous wife left during intermission, it was simply pathetic. please try to avoid going to this unless you have free tix like i did, thanks for the comps!!! to pay close to a 100 dollars just to see a play with only 3 actors, plus the plot is very weak and it doesn't really go anywhere, the play is just words that go nowhere, no point on this play to exist, julia made a very bad choice in my opinion.

A play with 3 actors isn't worth 100 dollars. For 100 bux my play better have at least 20 actors and moving flats. Or, better yet, a water fountain that shoots up in the sound wave patterns of Shakalaka Baby. Updated On: 5/3/06 at 12:28 AM
indeed. i bet u haven't seen this play or bombay dreams either.

I actually thought the show was very well-written and the storyline was fantastic. I prefer small casts to big casts as well. This was a show that made you think so if you weren't ready to think, I can understand why you didn't like it.
well, festen is a play that made me think, 3 days made me leave and feel empty and like i wasted my time.

Muscle, I absolutley agree. There was nothing great about Three Days of Rain

oh and the play was indeed a success financially, that doesn't mean it was great, people just went to see the play because of roberts, let's see if the understudy takes over the role, the play would last a week and a half. people just bought the tix becuz they wanted to see a movie star, no one cared about the play itself. the reaction of the audience was negative, most people were upset during intermission, at least the people next to me and the actors didn't get a standing ovation at the end, plus a lot of people left after intermission.

I'm sure this show has been getting very mixed reactions. At my show, I didn't notice anyone leaving during intermission and there was a standing ovation. I'll admit I bought tickets to see Julia, Paul, and Bradley, but I left loving the play. I think the play would hold up fine with a different cast, but obviously not financially.
As I was leaving, there were two young teenagers that were talking and were saying, "What was it about?" but both agreed the acting was great. Obviously, this show is not for all audiences.
glad someone on the this site agrees with me...hehe...i feel like its brantley talking to me! hehe...luckydave: what did you like about 3 days? and disliked about bombay dreams?

i also would like to bring up the fact that the audience at "barefoot in the park" was sooooo rude, people left cell phones on and this guy behind me was coughing all the time, then he would open a candy-making a lot of noise- and then chewing the candy!!! i told him to shut up and he did, hehe...and during "entertaning mr sloane" the audience was instead amazing, there were these guys downstairs that had the most hilarious giggle, so they made me laugh even more, plus of course the play and the actors in this show are amazingly funny.

Well, you can't really get pissed at someone for coughing. I mean its sort of a health problem.
I think Three Days of Rain looks interesting. I love the poster design for the show. I'm def. going to pick up the play and give it a read. I didn't like Greenberg's "The Violet Hour" - though I may give it a second try.
I didn't like Bombay Dreams because it was fluff. And don't get me wrong, I don't mind fluff. I loved Wedding Singer, but Bombay Dreams was a let down. I understand that the whole overacting thing is in line with the Bombay style but I just didn't care for that. I don't want intentional overacting - ha. Plus the whole fountain thing was a bit of a let down. I think it was probably cooler on Broadway.
Anyways, I haven't seen Three Days so I'm sort of just guessing, but I think the reason Bradley and Paul seemed as though they were overacting is because of the way Julia acts. I can tell that her style of acting is more subdued and laid back, and when you're playing opposite that and you're a manic character, it might come off as overacting. Again, just a thought.
Festen sounds interesting though. I'd def. watch it. It seems like it has a pretty good story, it just might be the production that's bad.
Glad you liked Barefoot - Patrick Wilson is my one of my favortite actors. Though I'm surprised you saw Hot Feet instead of Wedding Singer! What? lol. To each his own.
I don't really know what I liked about 3Days, it just really kept me engaged in the story the whole time. I thought the characters were all well written (Even though a little more of Theo in Act 2 wouldn't have hurt). The acting was superb. I even thought that Julia was great in the show. It was a different character for her to play, so she came across as uptight, which the character is. Also, being in the front row center helped being tied to the actors even more.
Bombay Dreams was just boring to me. Some of the music was good and the sets were good. I'm not really into Indian culture that much and I also thought that the whole story and the guy who was a girl (was the name like Sweetie or someting?) was weird. The book was just odd I thought. I will admit that I still hum Shakalaka Baby sometimes. Updated On: 5/3/06 at 02:17 AM
well, i definitly take that back...i paid that to see liza minnelli perform and it was totally worth it, anyways...rentboy you can't assume you would like 3days because you like the poster, you have yet to see the play. i will see "wedding singer" tomorrow because u recommended it to me, and i will ignore critics and my friends who saw it. i thought the acting in 3days was good...my friend thought that rudd and cooper overacted, i thought they did a good job. and julia's acting was very good to be her bway debut. i just can't figure out why after choosing to star in patrick marber's masterpiece "closer" and some other great films like "pelican brief" and even cute comedies like "my best friend's wedding" she picked this play in particular.

I'm not surprised it went over some people's heads. It's certainly one of his most intellectual and wordy pieces and I would expect those with certain tastes not to get it.
I guess you really need to be a fan of Greenberg's work to appreciate this superb play.

You know, here's a chance to talk about drama and what we end up getting is "muscle" man criticizing the motivation of "people" buying tickets to see it. As if somehow getting comped gives him some sort of superiority.
not at all...i dont feel superior for getting comps, im just happy i didnt pay! i just say people just buy tix to see roberts in this and it's sad some other plays on broadway are so much better and they don't sell tix.
