How about info about theatre programs in NYC? I'm pretty set on being in the city and have currently looked into Tisch, AMDA, AADA, and Marymount Manhatten. Any extra info on these schools and any others ya'll can recommend would be great..

As stated:

i'm excited that people are not only interested in ocu, but liked my show.

Hmmm.."my" show....really? And you did Kiss Me, Kate as a solo, one man vehicle? Wow...you did do an awsome job!

CUNY Purchase?
Is that the city university that has a great program?

now, i don't know if you just like to pay attention to small details, and tear peoples words apart, or if you're a little bitter, but that was not my intent. Most if not all of us,as performers, when around people who didn't play with us refer to our shows as "my show". next time you comment on anything i say, come correct.

BABY I think that WSS is saying, you were only the male star vehicle, and that possibly you carried the show, I dont think there is any ill will (snicker) towards you, calm down, its a compliment, and even if it aint, take it that way.

Ever notice in playbills how many performers mention what schools they're alums of? Those are always good starting points.

I also have to push Fordham at Lincoln Center like no tomorrow. Statistically, it's harder to get in here than NYU. And you get work when you graduate. We're always getting postcards and circulars for shows with Fordhamites involved. In fact, one of our graduates won at the Fringe Festival this year, and several others participated in it. While we don't have a musical theatre major, the acting program here is phenomenal and there are plenty of opportunities here to work on the musical aspect. The other nice thing is that you get a full complement of theatre courses (playwriting, theatre history, visual design, stage crafts, acting, directing, etc.) as well as a full complement of collegiate courses (philosophy, English, languages, et. al.). And there are wonderful study abroad opportunities. I'm going to Moscow in December to study for two weeks at the Moscow Arts Theatre. Even better, you get course credits for studying abroad (not sure if you get them for studying A broad, but we have plenty of those here in the city, too). And you can't beat New York.

Wow, I'm surprised to hear CCM trashed. I had a friend who went there and I visited her and saw one of the productions they did (You're a Good Man Charlie Brown)...The people I met were so down to earth and exuberant about what they were doing. I think part of picking a school is finding what feels right for yourself.

I lived in Edmond for a total of 9 years, and I fully planned on going to OCU until I moved. (I actually still WANT to go, but I'm not sure how I can deal with out-of-state tuition.) I remember going to a lot of shows at OCU and loving them! I didn't see yours, because I had already moved, but the talent level there was just amazing.

Sarah I dont believe that OKCU has instate out off state TUIT, because it is a private school, a methodist school I believe. So everyone pays the same 28 grand or however much it is.

28 GRAND?????

Are you kidding??? Maybe for Boston Conservatory ot CCM.

Oklahoma City University is only $19,000 a year!!! And I spoke with someone in admissions who said that 80% of the music school students receive some sort of goverment ot scholarship assistance.

After looking at some of the prices other schools charge, OCU is turning out to be a bargan with a great national rep! Seems like some of you guys agree!

tapbaby, i'm ushering for cosi fan tutte, this sunday. I have a couple of friends in it. Sarah, about the out of state thing, I currently attend, and stevo is right, there is no out of state tuition. I have a scholarship, and most of all the people i know and have asked in the program also have talent based scholarships as well as academic. I was really shocked at how much they gave me, so if you want it and got what it takes, i'm sure you'll excell in a place such as this.

Hello!

CCM
Northwestern
If you want to stay in the SUNY system, please refer to Geneseo.

I have taught at many of them and these are the ones in which I have found delightful, bright students.

tapbaby, i went to a part of the cosi's rehearsal yesturday, and not only do they sound great, its hilarious to boot. tis really funny, i highly suggest to anyone in the area to go see it. If nothing else just to see the raging queens struggling so hard to act straight. Those guys are the best.

....the main thing is to keep the main thing, the main thing....

Will-

You want to talk funny, I just saw La Finta Giardiniera last night at NYCO (written when Mozart was 18 and generally unheard of until the late 70s) re-set inside of a mental institution. Nothing like seeing Mozart done with sock puppets, arias sung on swings, a mezzo in her bra and a commentary on the gender confusion that exists for a woman playing a man. Terribly fun.

And, Anthy, I think I saw you at Lincoln Center as you were going into the Met. It was hard to tell, you wearing a shirt and all.

Nice of you to talk that way about fellow performers.

Speaking from experience?

Thanks all for your sugestions. I am suprised no one has an opinion on the Boston Conservatory.

I have audition dates set for February at NYU and OCU. CCM is still playing their "we'll let you know when we feel like it game". It's getting old and tired and I think I've about had it with their arrogant attitude.

Anyone know about UCLA's musical theater school?
