The bar regulars bravely pursue love and music in the face of addiction, poverty, and haunting pasts. But in Nashville, heartbreak is the only thing they hand out for free."

I saw it in November of 2024 when it played on the Upper West Side. See it if you like country music and hanging out at honky-tonk bars. The energy and talent makes this a fun night out especially if you can get a cheap seat. I saw it with Casey Shuler who was very good. She has been replaced by Lauren Pritchard in the current production.

I was with it during the first act, and then the second act, it turned into The Notebook. It’s a pretty messy book, I enjoyed all of the songs, they were very strong. I’m not always in love with immersive theater because you’re constantly turning your head to see where the players are as they move all around the space. The first act I thought was quite strong. Second act was sappy and didn’t tie up some loose ends. It would be much better if they restaged it in a proscenium. The cast is wonderful, I still had a good time overall.
