There's been threads on this before. I love reading all of them lol. One of the ones I've always heard is in "Think of Me" from Phantom of the Opera, it sounds like Raoul says "bitch"...I forgot how the exact line went.
EDIT: I know POTO isn't this season, but before this thread referred to all Broadway shows.
"We like to snark around here. Sometimes we actually talk about theater...but we try not to let that get in our way." - dramamama611
oh man. mine is a WS one too. In my defense, it was the gypsy performance. the crowd was CRAZY and loud.
Second act. Anyone who's seen the show knows this number features the female ensemble doing the splits for the sung word "green". all these woman have their legs open in the air, on the floor, on a desk... etc.
so i kept hearing "it's all about the CREAM" (... yeah... you read it right). plus it was gypsy so people were cheering and laughing and applauding all around me throughout the song. and i kept thinking... how inappropriate! this is a family show, people!
The Wedding Singer. Oy. I swear, I heard "The pork is reserved for the rich and proud." Not New York. But 'the pork.' Thank you, Steve Jobs, for making the iPod so damn LOUD.
I can never understand (on the cast recording of the Wedding Singer) the end of "Linda's note". It sounds like "the I is dotted with a broken hand." Not sure if that's right!
In the Kiss Me quartet when Lauren Molina sings "It never leaves my side, it's the only thing my mother gave me," I would have sworn on the Bible that she was saying "Reticules aside, it's the only thing my mother gave me." She has wonderful diction the rest of the show, so perhaps just a Patti moment?
So it isn't this season and it isn't Broadway. It's the Wicked national tour. And at first I thought it was just me, but then I realized it was a mess up. Sebastian went, "Life's more painless for the brainless" when it's actually less painless. Yeah, I definitely went off topic.
No, it is "more painless". If life is MORE painless for the brainless that means there is less pain for the brainless. I know it sounds odd but when you think about it word for word, it makes sense.
Another Wedding Singer one- on Pop- when she says- "According to cosmo's latest * something*" I think I figured out that it is Quiz??? It took me listening to it like 4 times before I understood what she was singing.
Not this season, but this topic made me think about it, and it was last season, so it's not that far off, but the whole Doubt/Gout thing in DRS always confused me, at least in the beginning
I saw Sweeney on Wednesday... Maybe it was because I was half-dead from a long day of walking all around Manhattan, but I was only kind of picking up the amazingly fast words they were singing. Almost unintelligible to my tired ears. I guess that's more unheard than misheard. Oh well.
Hear the words I sing: war's a horrid thing. So, I sing sing sing... Ding a ling a ling.
