"Look on the Bright Side
Not on the Blackside
get off your backside
shine those shoes!
This is your golden opportunity:
Your the lightning and the news!"

Well, besides "I've Come to Wive it Wealthily in Padua", there's "Where is the Life that Late I Led?" which is hysterical, too, if done correctly. "If I Were a Rich Man" is another, as well as "Pink Fish"---not sure where it's from, but I heard it's a great one about a foreigner who comes to America, and calls lox and a bagel "Pink Fish and a Stale Donut".
i agree..purpose, out of context isn't funny at all. one of the few songs in the show that isn't..i mean real funny..comparison to Just One Step from SFANW, or something...
Jason Graae sings the Wrong Note Rag from WT on his CD...its hilarious. what a great album
Check out "It's a Fish" from "The Apple Tree." I put it in a Broadway musical revue I directed a few years ago. Pretty much no one in the audience had previously heard of it, but everyone loved it! It's very funny.

thanks Dano and propspony, i'll definitely look into that!! my showcase currently seems so heavy and dark, that i need to lighten it up.
i was also thinking maybe about "If You Hadn't But You Did" (Jule Styne), which is on Chenoweth's album, but I would sing it as if I were a girl like she does, it could get a nice response.
I don't know how well-known this show is, or how easy it would be to get ahold of this music...but "I've Got A Little List" from Hot Mikado (mostly same lyrics/plot as Mikado, but updated and put to swing, blues, gospel music). This song's lyrics have been changed quite a lot from the original, I believe. I saw it awhile ago in DC and it was hilarious!
