The discussion about the the letter and the double morals is definitely about this show and therefore on topic.

But everyone has been able to share their thoughts about this specific topic about the show, so the proposal of getting back to discussing other details about the show too is fine, but people should be able to share about the show what they want and when things get a little passionate, that isn't necessarily a bad thing, it just shows that we care. I also think that people who fire a little snark can handle a little snark in return.

My white actor friend who lives in Korea is homeless. He is not welcome in shows there. Unfortunately he does not get all the chances and opportunities for all rolesthat Asian actors get on Broadway. Thanks for the nice chat and have fun excluding races."

HOWEVER! We are not talking about South Korea and the experiences that those people face there. Unfortunately! Our ability to affect change there is kind of limited between language and distance, but of course you know that and its not about that. Like... Just because LGBT rights are better here than Uganda, doesn't make this country good on LGBT rights especially with recent attempts to scale them back. That also goes to Women's rights. You can always point to somewhere worse, but that doesn't mean we're "good".

Because in most cases they were born here and brought here as a young child. South Korea is... 99% South Korean, im wagering this friend is not in South Korea by any reason but his own decision to be. And how would this white actor know about his acting prospects in South Korea? Well... it's 2025. The internet exists... didnt you just learn 2 days ago that South Korea was antisemitic from the internet? He didnt think to research this?

Long story about love. And yes, those countries are very racist. They might be the global majority, but they don't have much respect for the minorities. The big question is, should we want to change their countries and why?

It's very nice of Broadway to give the global majority all the advantages there too, let's just be careful to not complain about a white actor taking over a role in a story where heritage doesn't matter for the story at all. Equality is a two-way street.

Should we want to? Yes actually, absolutely. But we can't work on countries in which we do not live, only our own. And if you feel the conditions a minority in an Asian country are facing then you should care about it at home.

Equality is a two way street, correct. But for every advancement towards a minority it's not like you have to "give back" for that. Like when you take a role that got an Asian actor their First Tony for Lead Actor in a Musical and immediately give the role to a white person? It feels like they for some reason they had to "pay it back" for that Tony. Again, if they cast this show diversely from the jump instead of every person but 1 being Asian, you absolutely cast it that way FOR A REASON. That you then went back on.
