If the TV show is the reason for her absences, it's a unique situation because it was supposed to be wrapped months ago but had to take a hiatus because of the strike (it started filming in April).
It's not unheard of for a TV show or film to go to a Broadway producer and say "hey, we REALLY need your actor for these dates, let's make a deal and we'll throw some money your way." The unusual part is that the lack of communication.

Even if they are filming a 5 day week, would you be able to work, let's say 60-70 hours in those 5 days, and then do a 3 show weekend on Broadway. Probably not."
Is she the star of this and in every scene? I don’t know anything about the project. Feels more likely to me she is ill.

If people are that interested in knowing what's going on, Google is their friend- they can get an inkling that way. And while I don't agree with the way that they've handled her absences, it's clearly not hurting Merrily's bottom line.

Sounds like she's back in the show tonight. Someone posted elsewhere that only an ensemble person is listed as being out on the understudy board

I get the curiosity and that this is a theater board with people who want to know things about their faves, but it's really not anyone's business. If she wanted people to know her life, she would share it.

During tonight's curtain call/red bucket speech, Jonathan Groff pointed out that yesterday was the anniversary of the closing night of the original production, and today is the anniversary of when the original cast album was recorded, at which point he acknowledged a group of 10 original cast members in the audience.
Whoops, not really the right thread for this. Added it to the regular one.

To be fair most people were asking about producer honesty and transparency not complaining that Lindsay is missing work. There is a difference.

Given the situation, I'm sure it was one day at a time until the matter was resolved. Such things can happen quickly or slowly. The producers couldn't really say how long she would be out, because the system works at its own speed.

There also appears to be some kind of virus going around, too. Not COVID, but I know a lot of people (including myself) that have been sick recently for a long stretch.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

Saw the show today. Lindsay was out. I was disappointed, but will always give any understudy or swing as much appreciation as the star. Not an easy job to fill the shoes of someone else. She did a a good job and the show itself was great. Truly enjoyable. I certainly won’t speculate why Lindsay is out, but do wish her well.

Lindsay Mendez was out of the matinee yesterday, Saturday, December 9. Luckily I saw her in a preview in September and loved her performance. But I thought Jamila Sabares-Klemm, her understudy, did an excellent job. So the role of Mary Flynn is in good hands, impervious to Covid, flu, etc.

So, you're wondering why someone put Lindsay Mendez news on a Lindsay Mendez thread, news which actually does relate to whether or not she's doing ok? At least they didn't start a new thread for it. Now, if only we could get her to announce her scheduled absences, that would be great.
