Has anyone done student rush for this yet? If so, please post when you got there, where the seats were located, etc. I am thinking of rushing this or next weekend. Thanks!
Yesterday there were about 20 people in line by the time they sold the rush tickets. I think the first in line got there about 30-40 min early. We got orch rows SS in the center as did most others in front and behind me in line. I think some got in the mezz and balc as well. They aren't guaranteed to be in a specific section.
I saw it last night and it was excellent. The LA audience just ate it up. I had seen it on Broadway with Corbin Blue who was terrific but Lin-Manuel takes it to another level - unsurprisingly.
A great young cast features a standout Nina in Arielle Jacobs and an equally good Vanessa in Sabrina Sloan who I prefer to Marcy Harriell in the Broadway cast. Natalie Toro as Camila actually stopped the show with a powerful "Enough" - something Priscilla Lopez did not achieve on Broadway.
I also saw it last night, I sat in the sixth row and I had AMAZING seats. It was an incredible show and everyone was so great and powerful. The entire cast, every member came out through the stage door, and I had to have to playbills because there were so many people. They were are very nice, just a bit rushed because they had an after party. I also got to meet Lexi Lawson (after seing her twice in Rent) who will be joining the cast as Vanessa on July 6th. I will be seing her to and cant wait!
I saw In The Heights Saturday night and was blown away! I had enormous expectations and it completely surpassed all of them. Lin-Manuel was a huge factor in my opinion. I think he's amazing and when I heard he was coming to LA, I just had to go.
I rushed the show and was about halfway through the line, getting there 30 minutes early. Our seats were Orchestra Left QQ. I was suprised to see not a lot of people there though.
The only issue I had with the cast was with Natalie Toro during "Enough." A lot of people were raving about it, and it seemed to me as if she was on auto-pilot a little bit. Beyond that, everyone else was phenomenal. I absolutely adored Arielle Jacobs. Almost everyone stage door-ed except Sabrina Sloan and everyone was very gracious. So sweet!
An insert in the playbill today advertised $25 seats for this weekend. Guess they are extending the student rush tickets to the public for 4th of July. Thought I'd spread the word in case anyone was thinking of going. Only one show tomorrow, and it's Sabrina's last.
I have been attending shows at the Pantages since 1991 and it's notoriously difficult to get center orchestra seats within the first 5 rows, yet I managed to snag a 3rd row dead center seat for this show. Either they are reserved for subscribers or people snatch them up within a few hours and I end up getting the orchestra right or left center sections (which are great). Last time I sat in the center section at that venue was in 1992 for a Les Mis performance. And it wasn't even dead center!
I paid exactly $100 for my one ticket (for Tuesday night). Ouch. I better like it!!! LOL.

When I went to the show last Saturday, they gave everyone rush tickets. On the website it says students only, but I brought my parents with me and they were able to purchase them as well.
My Oh My - Awesome that you were able to snag that seat since I know how difficult it is to get a seat in that section! You'll have a great time honestly. At least you spent $100 for a 3rd row center seat. If this makes you feel any better, I paid $125 for a row B mezz (right side) in 2008 in NY. It was HOT and discounts weren't available at the time. Eek!!
However, I'm sure for those who have watched this show multiple times have probably shelled out some $$ in total. WHY?? Because it is that good and absolutely well worth it!!!! =OD
Saw the show last week, and I have to say it is in INCREDIBLE shape. I actually got to see the tour cast in Houston with Kyle Beltran and was pleasantly surprised by how solid the cast was, but Lin-Manuel takes it to a whole new level. He just seems to have some deep, endless source of energy and even though I did notice a couple enunciation issues, it was by far the most fun I've ever had in the theatre. I especially enjoyed Arielle Jacobs as Nina, Rogelio Douglas Jr. as Benny, and Isabel Santiago as Daniela. IMO they rivaled the original cast. The audience was also great - the volume of the gasps during parts of the show was hilarious. I can't wait for the movie!
I don't post on here regularly, but I saw the show on July 4, and like everyone has said, it was amazing. I did rush, got there about 30 min before they started giving out tickets and I got center orchestra (row 10). It was packed, and the audience ate it up.
It was also Sabrina Sloan's last day. What a voice! At curtain call, Lin pushed her to front and he gave her an award (I want to say a Tony award, since it was round). Don't know if it was his or a replica, but it was touching.
The touring cast is top notch. The energy, the enthusiasm! Lin is just a great addition to the tour.

Can't wait to hear your opinion on this!
I ended-up exchanging my perfectly good, 3rd row orchestra center seat for a 5th row orchestra seat all the way to the side for this Thursday.
Lin-Manuel Miranda was out sick tonight.
*burn*

Has anyone gotten the student rush tickets recently? I'm probably gonna give them a try tomorrow, how early should we should up to be near the front of the line? And about where have the seats been located?
I went as recently as a week ago. I got there about 15 minutes early and there was a line of about 20 people ahead of me. I still ended up in Orch row K on the center aisle. I don't think you need to plan to be extra early and I'm not even sure that being first gets you the better seat. Another friend of mine went and was about 20 minutes past the time they started selling and ended up very front row on the far side which she said was just fine. I've also heard of others getting seats in the Mezz and in the very back Orch too. Bottom line is don't worry, just go and enjoy. They never even checked my ID.
I saw this on Wednesday night and it just might've been the best collection of talent I've ever seen in a single production. There's not a weak link in this cast.
I've never rushed at Pantages before. I know they have a student rush but what about a general one? I still haven't bought my tickets for tomorrow night yet, but I know they still have a gang load of available tickets.
I rushed the Saturday evening show of the closing weekend, and got put in the 1st row of the back section of the Mezz. There were lower mezz seats still open, which annoyed me, but it wasn't bad.
Lin was great, but Arielle Jacobs stole the show for me. When she sang "Everything I Know", I literally had a sobbing meltdown in my seat like a crazy person, just bawling to myself. She doesn't have Mandy's power, but she actually looks the character's age, and her voice is so pure and smooth. Her emotions manifest themselves so beautifully in her voice when she sings, and her acting was very simple and mature.
Also, it was my friend Chris's first day as Sonny, and he actually surprised me with how perfect he was in the role.
Matthew Morrison, Karen Olivo, and Mark Sanchez were all in the audience. Karen said her foot is still broken and she doesn't know when she'll be back. She seemed to be walking alright, but I noticed what looked to be a compression sleeve on her foot.
