You might have liked NPH. You might have enjoyed Andrew Rannells and Michael C. Hall. You might have very fond memories of Michael Cerveris. But there is only ONE true Hedwig. And that bitch is coming home.
I am confused by Trask saying "there's probably a small part of me that feels like Robbie Robertson felt when The Band reunited without him. I kind of wish I were going to be on that stage."
Why can't he? If you don't want to get rid of someone, add a member. It is a rock band.
PJ and all those who don't get it: I SAW THE ORIGINAL. So I actually have a basis for judgment. I'm glad you get to relive his performance. I also saw other people in the role who I felt captured it better. His writing was brilliant-no question there. The world burst open for me with someone else in the role, okay? (And it wasn't NPH or any current Hedwig.)
I also immediately went on Telecharge and bought myself a ticket. I was too young for Hedwig the first time around but I've fallen utterly in love with this incarnation and I'm so excited to see JCM in it.
Phyllis-don't you wish? No, I'm not ten. I did see the original.
However, recognizing that maybe I didn't fully grasp the performance the first time I saw Mr. Mitchell, I have gone ahead and purchased a balcony seat for his first performance. So, I am willing to try again.

b) Even though we saw it coming, I'm just as excited as if it were a complete surprise
c) Even though I want the show to run forever and continue to have a mile-long list of dream Hedwigs I would love to see, I really do like the poetry of having JCM close the show. "Think of the symmetry...think of the publicity..."
MEA CULPA. I said I'm sorry. I'll say it again. I'm sorry I saw the original and preferred one person's take to another's. I am sitting in the balc for JCM's first. Maybe I'll like it better this time.
Cerveris is amazing. I never got to see him as Hedwig, unfortunately. But Hedwig ranking has been going on for nearly a year now. The issue isn't liking someone more than JCM. That would be lunacy. I didn't like NPH, but lots of people did. Good for them.
I just think people were happy with the headline about JCM, came to this thread, and read bored "Who didn't expect this?!" reactions, how it really wouldn't improve the box office, and, of course, whether this might answer the ultimate question of 2014: Does this mean The Visit can go there?
Well, I'm very excited about the news! I missed John when the show was off Broadway because I wasn't into theater back then. And I bet his interpretation of the role now is very different from what he did at Squeezebox or the Jane. I saw NPH, Rannells, and MCH, and I enjoyed all of them and their different approaches. Now I get to see the original! Sign me up.
And I want to see Trask too! Strap a guitar on that man!
What a great idea to fill seats during the harsh winter months. I can't wait to see it for a second time after catching NPH's last week.
I assume after Mitchell another actor will more mainstream appeal will come in. I think having Mitchell back will bring a lot of press and momentum back to this revival.
As long as Adam Lambert doesn't replace him, I'll be fine.
Does anyone know when they may open up more seats for the final show? My girlfriend and I are looking to buy tickets but we aren't sure if we should buy not so amazing seats now or try to jump on seats when they release them. Do you guys think it is safe to wait?
Wish he was doing this during the Spring season. Can't afford all these trips, but I'm informed the Mrs. is going in February, congratulations all you peops who have been yearning for this.
