I'm sorry you feel that way children&art. I think that the movie is amazing. I'm sure it can't compare, or come close to the live musical- but Rent is so real. I'm sure that everyone can relate to the characters of Rent. I think you need to open up your heart and let Jonathan's music touch your soul.

MOOINGFORRENT, children&art is just saying that because this is an obnoxious and unncessary thread. Had this person posted in the other Rent DVD thread that was 3 posts below her own instead of starting a this one, he probably would have left her alone.

I didn't mean to come off rude honest. But when he said she wasted 2 1/2 hours of her life watching Rent kind of made me upset. I think its because I'm a big Rent fan. I know there is another thread for the DVD- I saw it. I just wanted to comment on what Children&art had said... I'm sorry if you thought I was out of line- I didn't mean to be. Nat.

Don't apologize, you weren't out of line. I understand you feel strongly about RENT but not everyone will agree with you that the movie was good, especially on this board. Don't take it personally, people have their own opinions.
yeah i didnt take offense, you have your ideas and i have mine - that's what life is all about.
but seriously, i have seen rent on stage in new york and a tour in dallas and the movie - each time it lacked a little bit more for me. and the movie was just "blah" in my opinion, i had to go back to my bway cd to remember what i really loved.
Don't f*ck with me fellas. This ain't my first time at the rodeo.
you're apsolutly right we all have our opinions. Thanks- I hope that Rent can come back to life for you- it has change my life for the better- I owe a lot of gratitude to Jonathan Larson- thank you jonathan larson Natalie.

i'm gonna be a complete a-hole for once in my life. i've seen the show twice and the movie twice... love it, yes. but i think i need explanations as to how this thing changes the lives of so many people. if it's not asking too much, examples would be nice too. i mean, it's a show. jonathon larson did an amazing job and yes, it's sad he didn't get to see everything that came of his work. but how exactly has rent changed your life? (this is to anyone)
seriously i have wondered about that too, how did "rent" change your life?
the closest i ever got to an answer was my friend in college said she saw it in new york in the 72 hour period she was waiting for results from an aids test, and it hit home for her.
Don't f*ck with me fellas. This ain't my first time at the rodeo.
I thought the 2 1/2 hours I spent at the RENT movie was a pretty good waste of time. Not because of RENT but because the movie is a poorly made piece of crap. They should've known better than to let Chris Columbus anywhere near it with a 40 foot pole.
If you want the RENT "experience" go see the show. But for someone living in suburbia who probably has had every luxury in life paid for by mummy and daddy, I doubt this show changed your life. Maybe it made you think, but it didn't "change" your life. And this is coming from someone who was in the exact same position when I was a teenager.
PS--I'm sure Jonathan Larson has taken busy time out of his schedule to thank you for your personal interest in his work.

Do we have to deal with the this AGAIN? After the countdown to the movie's soundtrack, the movie's soundtrack finally coming out, the build-up to the movie, the movie's coming out, the discussions about the movie, and then the discussions about why the movie flopped, I CANNOT handle this again!
*sprints for BWW Freakout thread*
ETA: Kitz, it I weren't a straight chick, I would propose to you right now.
i just saw the stage show and it kicks the movie's butt. but, the movie is a good chance to see the original cast and a good replacement for those of us who don't live anywhere near NYC. :)

I couldn't find a copy of it -- I went to my local Target AND Barnes and Noble - both were cleared out by 3:15 -- Target even had two shelves dedicated SOLELY to Rent. Go figure. I came back and ordered it online - it'll be a week or so now. No rush.
