In the same day I saw Brad Oscar standing outside the St. James, Hunter Foster walking down Times Sqaure (and I nearly died), John Hill just talking on his cell phone, and Jerry Mitchell in Virgin.
I didn't speak to any of them, but kept telling my brother who they were. Naturally, he had no idea and could care less.
ok, no this isnt broadway, but i saw Will Smith in his car once.....SO WHAT IF ITS NOT BROADWAY? ITS NOT LIKE THIS IS A BROADWAY MESSAGE BOARD OR ANYTHING!
"It's a great feeling of power to be naked in front of people. We're happy to watch actual incredible graphic violence and gore, but as soon as somebody's naked it seems like the public goes a bit bananas about the whole thing."
Not really Broadway, but I passed Michael Arden on the street while he was talking on his cell phone. I also saw Angela Gaynor from LA CAGE standing outside a dry cleaners. Passed Alfred Molina walking to the Minskoff. John Tartaglia and his bf walked behind a friend of mine and I for a few blocks as we walked to Penn Station. That's all that comes to mind at the moment.

completely forgot... when i went to see THE FROGS, i met Brad Oscar and his understudy John T. Eagen. my friend knows them and introduced me, since i had no clue who Brad was, i had seen John in WHEN PIGS FLY and J&H so i knew him.
i've told this story before but walking back from millie i saw john tartaglia and jennifer barnhart who signed my millie poster and were thrilled i knew who they were, and i think hugh pantarobut he looked pissed so i didn't talk to him

If you saw a Broadway star - say - in a restaurant or museum, that's a bit different than seeing them on the street near the theatre they're performing at - they don't just evaporate into the building!!
I dont think this counts but, after hanging out by the Avenue Q stage door, my mom and I was walking back to our hotel right behind Ann Harada. It was the weirdest feeling too because I just spoke to her about what a fan I was of hers at the stage door. I was too chicken to say anything else while walking behind her.
Not in nyc but, in chicago I saw Stephen Oremus, Leah Hocking, and a few other people walking around after an All Shook Up performance.
"Chicago is it's own incredible theater town right there smack down in the middle of the heartland. What a great city! I can see why Oprah likes to live there!" - Dee Hoty :-D
i saw jennifer and natalie walking around finding something to eat between q shows. i guess that doesn't count.
i also saw carly jibson at "a second hand memory" because she was seeing michael mckean, who she had been in hairspray with for a while. that was kinda funny, cuz i didn't realize it was her for a while b/c she's blonde. funny me.
I've seen lots of folks in restaurants but (like you say) I don't really think that counts. The only real 'encounter' I can recall came one night when I was walking too fast (as usual) with my head down (also as usual) and I literally ran into Richard Kind on his bike. That was also on 8th Avenue come to think of it.

i accidentally bumped straight into Adam Pascal once on my way to see AIDA. i felt like an idiot. he was awesome about it though..because..well...he's....ADAM!
i've also passed by Eden Espinosa and Taye and Idina on the streets.

I also had a really lovely encounter with Jane Powell at an evening performance of "Pacific Overtures" towards the end of December. As we were walking into the lobby, I noticed her and did a double take. I don't normally do this kind of thing, but I just felt that I had to say something, as I grew up on her films and also remember her as Alan Thicke's mom on "Growing Pains". She was warm and gracious and quite a class act. It was really the highlight of my evening.
well when I was there last summer we saw Raul Esparza showing where Taboo used to be playing (when it was being set up for BKLYN) and we saw Jordon Gelber walking down the street towards the Golden, on his way to work I guess.
Both times we hung back and just kinda did double takes. Especially the Raul thing. We're like "is that who we think it is?" and we were with a friend that knew him at the time. He waved her over to say hi, but my other friend and I were too shy and feared it impolite to just go over there so we hung back and just waited for our friend to say hi to Raul before going on. She still teases us about how fan girl we were afterwards. LOL
