What are some really great examples of great actresses today who are soubrettes? What about actresses who went from soubrette to leading lady???

Any examples. For me soubrette is always one of the hardest types to pin down. Too pretty for character, to quirky for ingenue, to young for leading lady.

Possibly Kelli O'Hara? But she kinda is a leading lady...
Celia Keenan-Bolger maybe?

by your definition, I would have to say that Audra McDonald has gone from Soubrette to leading lady. when you consider her debut was in one of the most soubrettish roles, "Carrie Pipperidge" and will soon be tackling "Lizzie" in 110, I'd say she made the transition.

Judy Kuhn might be considered another one, stepping out of featured roles into leading lady. Bway needs her back. Its been too long.
