I'm all for a tie, but if I had to choose, it'd belong to Dunnagan.

While it could be that they will split the vote, I don't see voters rallying entirely for any of the other 3. I'd personally like to see a FOUR way tie! Kate Fleetwood astonished me with the best Lady Macbeth I've seen so far in my lifetime; and S. Epatha Merkerson took Shirley Booth's signature role, seered in my memory from the movie version, and made it her distinctive own. Eve Best was terrific, too.

I think ultimately Deana Dunagan will win the award, but wouldn't it be exciting if there was a tie?? All 5 nominees were truly extraordinary this season! (and Anika Noni Rose was superb, too, in Cat).

I think this award is Deana Dunagan's! Both performances were wonderful but hers was the one that really made me sit on the edge of my seats. Both are equally gifted actresses and its a tough call but that mother is just gut wrenching in this play!

I've also seen it twice, the first time with Dunagan's understudy, - so when I saw it for the second time I was able to appreciate Dunagan's enormous contribution to the show. It simply wasn't the same without her - I had a much better understanding of the character with her playing her.

BUT - though a tie would be ideal - I would still give it to Morton. Her performance stayed with me for a long time after each time I saw the play. It is astounding.

I THINK Deanna will win - I WISH Amy would win. And as far as replacements go - I would give my eye teeth to see Elizabeth Marvel take over for Amy Morton when she goes. Can you even imagine what that woman would do with that role?!? Goosebumps.

I think it's Morton's to lose. She is positively brilliant, and it's her journey that the audience relates to. She's the every-woman of the play, and people walk away loving her (I myself and pulled strongly by a soft spot for this character). For my money, Dunnigan has a bit more of a difficult job, and may even be bringing something more rare and magnificent to Violet, but I can't say I really want one to win over the other.

I'm hoping for a tie- it would certainly be warranted. But, I was more moved by Morton- her desperation trying and failing to hold the family together, I really felt as if I was on the emotional journey with her. She absolutely blew me away and left me breathless- especially at the end of Act II.
