So, I made an impulse buy last night, and saw Yellowface. Frankly, I haven't really made my mind up on the show, Hwang's text is all over the map ranging from slapstick humor to poignant drama, but the performances were quite good considering. The lights were fantastic (But I'm a bit biased towards Don Holder's designs), but the set and the "transformation" in act two made no sense whatsoever!
Oh well, let's kick start this discussion!
The one show everyone on Broadway is waiting to see: Twyla Tharp presents: Big Bottom - The Spinal Tap Jukebox musical!
I still have yet to see this also...Does it have awful stereotype cheesiness? Hope it doesn't...Some stories about cultural identity don't do the cultural difference humor thing very well...
Gah, can't wait 'til Sweeney Todd at Ahmanson and Phantom of the Opera at OCPAC...!!
