To all you Daphne skeptics... the girl can SING. Forget the Rent OCR...you ever been to one of her gigs? She can belt loud and clear to the heavens or sing a sweet ballad. She proved this in "Bernarda Alba" which was much more legit than her usual rock opera type shows. Her voice is unique, but she has the range and the passion to sing anything that comes her way, and you're all going to be blown away.
And as for the acting, the girl can break down into tears in a split second. She lives through a moment in such a believable way that you just want to give her a comforting hug after the show.
I've seen her in every performance she's done since Rent, on bway and off, and I promise you...you won't be disappointed. Give her a chance.
Wow...I am surprised. I am really looking forward to Norm and Gary, I just don't think Alex has the intensity to play valjean. And Aaron casting news is exciting! But Daphne, I am not so sure about. Nonetheless, I am excited. Very interesting choices though.
...What happened next, was stranger still, a woman breathless and afraid, appeared out of the night, completely dressed in white. She had a secret she would tell, of one who had mistreated her. Her face and frightened gaze, my mind cannot erase...But then she ran from view. She looked so much like you...
My mother uses a travel agent to book tickets when she comes to the city (she lives in NC)
Being a Les Mis junkie, I emailed her with the casting news (the woman has seen the show roughly 35 times)
She emailed ME back saying that her agent says they're selling group tickets through Sept. 2007.
I don't know how accurate that is but that seems SUSPICIOUSLY unline 6 months... of a run.
Now what would you say if today I started over?

So is Fantine even a lead? Before I read this I didn't know she was illed off the first 30 minutes of the show =*( Either way ,I HAVE to see Daphne in this...couldn't have cared less about this revival before.
They do bump her off pretty quick but she's got a LOT to do before she's bumped off.
And then she comes back.
Do spoiler warnings even apply for Les Mis? I'd think not.
So anybody else vaguely excited to see her dressed up as a bullet boy during act II? *minor fangirl moment*
I NEVER would have suggested or thought of this casting, but now that it's here I'm all for it - she has REALLY floored me every single time I've seen her onstage with her emotional intensity. Can't wait to see her spit on Valjean.
Actually, the idea of Daphne running through that whole scene... the "you let your foreman send me away, yes you were there, and turned aside..." - um... yes. Sell me a ticket now.

I can see Daphne as Fantine. I think she'll be excellent. She has the vocal chops and she had such a wonderful melancholy quality in her portrayal of Mimi that would enrich the character of Fantine. Both characters had a hardness and edge to them from their respective life experiences, but both also had a permanent sadness that softened them and exposed their vulnerability. I think she'll be excellent. An uncoventional choice perhaps, but perfectly justifiable. And who's to say Daphne does not have the voice of Fantine? Fantine is a fictional character. What does her "voice" sound like, may I ask? What a ridiculous thing to say.

I am personally really excited about Lea Michele as Eponine. It'll be a nice change to have Eponine actually played by a teenager.
Also SUPER excited about Aaron as Enjolras. I started giggling hysterically when I read that. I saw him in Piazza and think that he is one of the most gorgeous creatures ever.
Not the biggest fan of DRV, but I'm remaining neutral until I actually see her in the role.

I thought of that too! :)
Does anyone have any ensemble rumors? Hope that info gets posted soon. I think all that's been posted is Daniel Bogart (Combeferre, u/s Marius) and Sara Chase (ensemble, u/s Cosette).

^ Me too! I'm partial to a good (and hot) Grantaire.

I am really very excited for Aaron as Enjolras, I think he'll be fabulous.

I absolutely LOVE Les Miz. It was my first show I ever saw on Broadway, and still remains one of my favorites. And this cast looks like it will be a great show! :)
Does anyone know when individual tickets go on sale? Because I need to get tickets for Christmas break!

This cast is gonna be amazing, I know it. My mom just surprised me with tickets (early graduation present) :) so I'm very excited. They're for early November, I'm pretty sure around Veteran's Day weekend. But I really can't wait to see the actors bring their own stuff to the roles, especially Daphne, Lea, and Alex. Anyone know who Gavroche, Young Cosette, or anyone else are? Just wondering...
