Scheduled to see it in London early September at new Marble Arch theatre.

Re: Burlesque Doomed?

For what it’s worth, they spent a *very* long time trying to lock in a big Broadway director (all the usual suspects for a show like this, plus some of the less-expected ones).

I think the success of Moulin Rouge paired with the chaoticness of the rightsholders killed any possible interest from even the most desperate of reputable directors.

Re: Burlesque Doomed?

This whole enterprise has been a head-scratcher for me; who thought it was a great idea to try and launch two new productions (a tour and new West End iteration), essentially, at the same time? In addition to it's original West End outting being only a semi-success, these productions were to be headed by a completely new creative team -- meaning, it's not what the semi-successful West End production was. And the IP isn't some super clamored-for, beloved property. Just seems like a cash grab whose greed finally caught up with them.

Re: Burlesque Doomed?

Whoever’s producing this clearly set dates before they knew what they were doing with the show. Just bad producing 101.
