The Muny closed its season with a premiere production of Something Rotten! and per friends Jen Cody as Nostradamus walked off with the entire show.

Which, if you have followed her from Urinetown through Shrek and Cats, is not remotely a surprise - but what is surprising is that she's not been back on Broadway in a while. Is that by choice?

Per Cody herself, she and husband Hunter Foster left Broadway by choice. She herself now prefers directing and choreographing regional productions and doing short limited runs like The Muny productions. The 8 performances a week long Broadway runs no longer interest her. Been there, done that.

Jen is from my hometown and has appeared at GEVA Theatre in Rochester several times (always to great acclaim). I'll never forget Spamalot about ten years ago, where she played Patsy opposite Hunter as King Arthur. Her take on the role was unique.

She was in the Seattle tryout of Broadway Vacation which is likely to come to Broadway in the next year or so - I imagine she might come with it - she played a few funny small roles, but did have one pretty great song.
