I just got back from a press event where they announced the 2008-2009 Boston season:
A CHORUS LINE 9/11 - 10/5
BRIGADOON 10/14 - 11/9
LEGALLY BLONDE 10/28 - 11/9
NICE WORK IF YOU CAN GET IT 12/16 - 1/11 (World Premiere Pre-Broadway Engagement Starring Harry Connick Jr.) Harry Connick Jr. stars as a Long Island playboy in this new musical comedy filled with bootleggers, gold diggers and some of the greatest songs from the legendary Gershwin catalog. This World Premiere pre-Broadway engagement is directed by Tony Award winner Kathleen Marshall.
FROST/NIXON 1/27 - 2/8
DIRTY DANCING 2/7 - 3/15
A BRONX TALE 3/31 - 4/11
SPRING AWAKENING 4/28 - 5/24
I'm excited for some of these shows...what do you guys think?

I would love to see the new Harry Connick Jr./Kathleen Marshall show!
"Oh look at the time, three more intelligent plays just closed and THE ADDAMS FAMILY made another million dollars" -Jackie Hoffman, Broadway.com Audience Awards
Nadine Issenegger (sp?): Dance Ten, Looks Three Gerard Canonico (sp?) and Emma Hunton: Don't Do Sadness/Blue Wind Becky Gulsvig: So Much Better
Brigadoon had a dance number with the male ensemble. Rob Ashford spoke a few words.
Kathleen Marshall and Joe DiPietro spoke about the Harry Connick Jr. musical. They had nothing to show really since it is a work in progress, but I'm kind of excited about this one.
Also they performed Do You Love Me?/Time of Your Life from Dirty Dancing...not sure who the people's names were.

I was there too. It was a great event in my opinion!
My thoughts: -I was thrilled about Spring Awakening, and so happy to see Gerard and Emma! They were great. -Becky Gulsvig is 20 times better than LBB, and she'll be awesome on tour. -I'm psyched for Brigadoon. The choreography was amazing. -The new Gershwin show seems interesting. I don't know if it's completely up my alley, but I still can't wait to see it. -Good plays coming. Especially excited for Frost/Nixon. -I can't wait for ACL! -I didn't enjoy Dirty Dancing that much. But it's an open ended run so I'll probably see it.
All in all, a great upcoming season. Tons better than the 2007-2008 season. I really can't wait.
One thing that I thought was weird was that A Chorus Line is going to be at the Opera House. It is such a gigantic theater.
Also, Brigadoon is going to be at the Colonial. I'm not familiar with the show's staging, but I'm just curious - would it be more suitable for the Opera House? I just think it's weird how such a small show is going into a huge house...and vice versa?

I was there as well; an overall entertaining event. Too bad the sound system was poor - and the "Dance 10, Looks 3" performance crashed at the end. I did like the Brigadoon number.
When the music for the "Dirty Dancing" video started, I thought for sure we were getting Jersey Boys, but no luck. Very odd how JB is avoiding Boston.
WOW. This does look like a great season! We're getting RENT, also.
Too bad The Color Purple and Jersey Boys aren't coming through.
Anyway, I can't wait!
Thank you so much, Millie.
"I mean, sitting side by side with another man watching Patti LuPone play Rose in GYPSY on Broadway is essentially the equivalent of having hardcore sex." -Wanna Be A Foster.
"Say 'Goody.' Say 'Bubbi.'" ... "That's it. Exactly as if it were 'Goody.' Now I know you're gonna sing 'Goody' this time, but nevertheless..."
at least you will see becky as elle woods. kyle riabko who will replace groff will become melichor on the tour. at least ny and boston both agree on something musicals. so sweet gerard and emma went to boston too as well as becky to promote their shows. the best lineup i have seen so far for a tour theatre.
I'm kind of sad about Jersey Boys as well - it should have come to Boston. When they started playing the Four Seasons song at the beginning of the Dirty Dancing montage, I think people (including me) thought it was Jersey Boys and got excited for a second.
And yeah, I agree - Nadine totally botched Dance 10, Looks 3 (sounded like something got caught in her throat) at the end, but it was a press promo thing, so I don't want to discredit her actual performance in Chorus Line. And the constant sound problems were annoying.

A young actress with Noel coward after a dreadful opening night performance said to him 'Well, i knew my lines backwards this morning!''
Noels fast reply was ''Yes dear, and thats exactly how you said them tonight'!'
