I have always wondered why the Book of Mormon playbill is the old design (border) and never switched to the new playbill design (no border).

I’m still wondering this too, as whenever the tour stops at a theatre that uses playbill it’s always the newest version. So why can’t they translate that back to the broadway production?

Bump, because I've always been super curious about it. I wonder if the producers just think it looks better having a boarder, because the keyart just has lots of white-space around it?
Personally I wish we had an updated version, as I really like the sleek/modern playbills over the old ones. It's sort of weird still being the odd-one out in my playbill collection.

Bumping this as with the 2019 Pride Playbills, the Book of Mormon one stays out, and I don't know if I like that or not.

BoM is probably still like that because Mr. Rudin wants to be difficult. He was the first to use the "new" playbill cover layout. I imagine if any other long-running show had wanted to keep the old layout, they could have done so.
