Re: Bond 45, etc. Files For Bankruptcy!

What restaurants haven't raised prices a few times in the past several years?

The real problem is that I don't know many people who have eaten at any of these restaurants in quite a long time. They're convenient for the area and are established, but they're not at all the best or most exciting options. Dining preferences have shifted a lot.

The owner/founder dying last year may have exposed cracks that were otherwise brushed over while he was in charge, hence the drastic measures now of closing RedEye and restructuring the existing restaurants. (Though at 93, how much day to day involvement did he actually have within the company?)

Their restaurants used to be a little more expensive than their contemporaries (namely Brooklyn Diner), but now everyone else seems to have caught up to them.

I didn’t know redeye grill closed. I went there before Bridges of Madison County concert at Carnegie Hall last year and it was packed.

Has anyone been to Cafe Fiorello? Is it good? I’ve never been there before.

Very sad this is happening. Cafe Fiorello was always a great place to go for a late night supper after seeing a show at Lincoln Center.

I can't believe that in the 12 years I was working back there and in the area, I never went into Bond 45. And I passed by it at least 5 times a week for like 7 of those years.

I ate at Cafe Fiorello four months ago before I saw a performance of Ragtime. Really hope it doesn't close. It is such a great restaurant with outstanding food.

As someone who has often stayed at the Hotel Edison, I have frequently grabbed a quick breakfast at Bond 45 - so I hope it survives.
