LOL, sorry, I was working on my essay. It's on As You Like It (about the forest of Arden, interestingly enough).

I don't want to "out" anyone by talking about their sexuality, but....from what I've gathered from public sources, I'm pretty sure Michael Arden is gay. BARE Re-Opening

He, along with John Hill, were publicized guests at a gay men's social gather in Times Square a few weeks ago; he penned the song "N + R", which is about two guys staring at each other across the subway platforms; and his song cycle, Easter Rising, is about a gay couple (I _think_). So when you gather up the data, he's either gay or is _really_ intrigued by gay relationships. BARE Re-Opening

Again, I feel uncomfortable discussing someone's private matters, especially sexuality. But someone asked, and this is what I think.

I have some Bare gossip. First, John was at a Gay Pride award event last night at City Hall looking FABULOUS, i was told (really, how ELSE would he look?) Another friend knows one of the Bare band members. Scenes are furiously being rewritten/deleted/added in preparation for their re-opening, which they all hope is only a stop along the way to Broadway!

I'm back! (My essay is driving me insane!)

About BARE going to Broadway: what do you all think? I would love to see it performed to the larger masses, but so much of the show depends on its intimacy. I don't think even the smallest Broadway house could preserve it (well, maybe Circle in the Square.) I wouldn't mind if it just enjoyed a successful, open-ended run off-Broadway. Many of the best musicals never went to Broadway: Hedwig, the Fantastiks, etc.

If BARE does intend to play on Broadway, though, it'll need substantial rewriting to emphasize the larger, rockier numbers in the show, rather than the quieter, more character-based moments (though I like those more!).

i can't make any comments on this, as i havent seen the show, but i've heard amazing comments on how intimate the theater was and how it added to the show. i think some of it would be lost in a huge theater. i agree about the long-standing run off-broadway run.

Oh yeah, the intimacy was AMAZING. I sat front row twice, and could see the tears trickling down Peter/Michael Arden's face in the last scene.

Even for an off-Broadway theatre, the ATA was TINY; just a bit over 100 seats.

I still don't quite understand how the show made money, though. Sure, it sold out every night; but tickets were only $40 ($20 for rush students), and with a cast of about 15, plus the band and the crew, creative team and producers, how did the show break even in such a tiny venue?

wow...that's powerful, tears, wow i can't even imagine...

yeah its amazing how it did so well, i wonder if the turn out will be the same if it moves to a larger theater, hope it does!

As far as rewrites, I've heard that the opening number will be completely revised when the show reopens.

Okay, who was the blonde guy in the show? What was his name?

John and Mike are both blond-ish..

John looked great at the Pride Awards... I love the pic on this site of him with J-Tart.

I could see Bare in a Broadway house like the Belasco. It is a bit over 1,100 seats, but feels a lot smaller due to the three-tiered seating arrangement.

OH NO!!! NOT THE BLOND HAIR! I hope it's just for Pride, and not a long-term thing!

He still looks cute, though. BARE Re-Opening But now it's nightlife-clubboy-cute, rather than adorable-boyish-geek-cute.

LOL, "rugged".

Strangely enough, I bleached and cut my hair exactly like that a few years ago (and I have naturally raven-black hair - the peroxide was PAINFUL, like dipping your head in acid). Blond definitely makes you feel more wild.

Hmm....better be careful what we write, Michael Arden may be reading. BARE Re-Opening
