The lackluster reviews probably killed any chance of a recording, like it did with Roundabout's THREEPENNY revival.
"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe."
-John Guare, Landscape of the Body
There were talks Foa, but its been months since anything else has come about. I'm assuming its not happening, though, nobody thought the Pacific OVertures revival would be recorded but it eventually came to be after the show closed.
It hasn't been nixed, they're still promoting the album at the theater.
"You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view - until you climb into his skin and walk around in it."
To Kill A Mockingbird
That has been the buzz since the show started previews.
"Some people can thrive and bloom living life in a living room, that's perfect for some people of one hundred and five. But I at least gotta try, when I think of all the sights that I gotta see, all the places I gotta play, all the things that I gotta be at"
This may be a dumb question but if they are to release a cast recording, wouldn't it be better to do it while the show is still running so they could sell it at the theatre? Make more money? A person who is seeing the show and likes it may buy a CD if it is right in front of their face, but not necessarily go looking to buy it a few months after they saw it. IF they are planning on recording, what's the point of waiting a few months?
I do know that 110 is being recorded by PS Classics. Just in case anyone took that as being old news along with The Apple Tree.
Good. I'm going to run the the nearest Best Buy once it's released.

MARIAN: Well, what would you like to take out?
HAROLD HILL: The librarian.
MARIAN: Quiet, please!
HAROLD HILL: (whispering)The librarian.
I know many have been recorded after the show closed, but I'm asking if the company knows they are going to record something why wouldn't they do it while it was still running as opposed to waiting.
Time may be a factor in why it may not be recorded until after the show... Just guessing...
I certainly hope this happens. The music is beautiful, and I would love a recording featuring Kristin. I agree that they could have sold a great deal of albums at the show.
So, that was the Drowsy Chaperone. Oh, I love it so much. I know it's not a perfect show...but it does what a musical is supposed to do. It takes you to another world, and it gives you a little tune to carry with you in your head for when you're feeling blue. Ya know?
I heard from one source that Sony Classical, the label that Kristin belongs to, might be recording it and one person asked the merchandise counter guy about it and they said that it will be released in April.
