Kelly Clarkson on Broadway
 Nov 24 2013, 12:07:51 PM
New example of Kelly singing Broadway material...

For those that haven't heard her new (and extraordinary) Christmas record, here's her big band take on 'My Favorite Things' from that album:

And in this Billboard cover story about the album, there is a vague reference to a possible Broadway album in 2014:

"To the Texan native who'll be celebrating her second Christmas at her Nashville home with Blackstock, the album represents a sort of second phase for her career. The new year will bring pop and country releases, as well as a potential Broadway album. In a way, her Christmas CD represents a break from her past and a sampler of what's to come-like the holiday itself."

Kelly Clarkson Talks Future Broadway Ambition
 Nov 10 2011, 03:50:11 PM
This isn't the first time Kelly Clarkson has mentioned wanting to do Broadway, but it's the most recent time. She seems very interested but indicates that it's something she'd want to do further down the road.

Thoughts? She can sing the phonebook, so I'd love to hear her take on a classic Bway score.

Lea Michelle may lave 'Glee'..does that mean FUNNY GIRL is next???

This is sort of sickening to read. And it drips of envy.
Justin Guarini Joins WOMEN ON THE VERGE; Full Cast Set

@OurTime992, you thought Justin Guarini would beat THE Kelly Clarkson on Idol??? Blasphemy!

Back to the topic at hand, I'll reserve judgment until I've seen or heard him in the part. He certainly does know how to sing.

Are we all sick of Lea Michelle as Fanny Brice

Thanks for sharing that link, kchenofan. I thought she sounded pretty stunning.

I agree with those that have pointed out how ridiculous the hate for this girl is. People that weren't fans of her in Spring Awakening are clearly livid that she has received such a level of national popularity AND acclaim already.

I also love me some Leslie Kritzer, but you're kidding yourselves if you think she can carry a show like Funny Girl...on Broadway...in economic times like these. Just

CZJ is also a huge star, a fact not to be taken lightly. Her delivering a winning speech on Tony night equals bigger ratings than a speech from Scott, whom most folks outside this board wouldn't be able to pick out of a lineup.

I'm not saying it's right, but it's something to consider.

Laura Benanti to star in new CBS sitcom?

Sorry if this has been posted already. I admittedly didn't search for this topic...

Looks like she's been cast as the lead in "Open Books" about a book editor.

Good for them!

I saw Aaron as Fiyero in Wicked last year and thought he was fine. I was more underwhelmed with the role of Fiyero than Aaron's performance.

I thought he was fantastic as Gabe, however. I agree with those who were shocked about the Tony snub, though I know it's been said that it was because he was leaving immediately for CMIYC.

Never saw KDM as Gabe, so I can't make any sort of fair comparison, but was extremely moved and impressed by Aaron's acting and vocals in the role.

I agree they are a bit excessive, butI feel like there are always a few new shows that by this point in the year I already am sick of because of the overpromotion. I'm (not so) secretly very excited for this show.

That seen in the preview with lea michele laying on the stage with her "love interest" reminds me so much of her as Wendla...it's pretty hilariously similar.

Totally cool guy with a really cool, raspy voice. I'm a big fan and would love to see him in a musical...
re: The 'Billy Elliot' of AMERICA'S GOT TALENT -- on now

I was watching it and geekily said to my roommate, "I think that's Electrity" during his background vignette.

And then when he literally jumped for joy to Elton's rendition... now that was a moment (but also hilariously heavy-handed).

Great dancer, though, for sure!
