I'm excited for this. I happened to be revisiting the score recently, and was struck once again by how well the Sky-Sarah relationship development is done. Such a well-executed 'opposites attract' romance.

Just the other day I was idly wondering about when Anna Zavelson might appear in a show again, after hearing about how great she was in 'The Light in the Piazza'. Glad to hear she's in this!

I'm not across every detail of the 'Funny Girl' drama, but good on Beanie Feldstein for getting back out there and for being willing to take on a smaller role. Hope she's amazing, and has fun.

Maybe so. But by all reports, the London production was decidedly not top-tier by any measure, production values or otherwise. Was it an anomaly that won't be repeated, or might they have changed their tune about what kinds of production will get approved for this show? Who knows.

Resurrecting this thread out of curiosity... Does anybody happen to know if there are any other English-language productions of this show in the pipeline? The London production wasn't greeted with raves, but it did seemingly prove that non-replica, non-lavish productions of this show can be approved, which I thought might have made the show a more accessible / interesting option to a few of the smaller theatre companies out there. According to https://www.vbw-international.at/home/rebecca at least, licensing is available for the English language version.

(On a related note: does Europe's VBW license its shows for community and/or school productions? Even if only within certain countries?)

For what it's worth, for those who might have wished to hear Sierra Boggess and Julian Ovenden playing the two main leads on this new recording, years ago John Wilson released the album 'Rodgers and Hammerstein at the Movies' which includes the Sierra/Julian 'If I Loved You' along with Julian singing 'Soliloquy'.

Personally, this comment from Criss has made me less interested, ha. Based on the Korean cast recordings, I had been hoping to (vicariously) fall in love with a new cute, small-scale show *shrug* But hey, you can't please everyone. Anyway, if this comment is true, perhaps that's why all that money was needed for this production...
