Audra McDonald-led GYPSY for 2024-2025 Season!
 Sep 23 2024, 10:11:39 AM

Very interesting that Bette turned it down (only to do the TV film a few years later), but damn, I wish Liza would have done it.

Praise be.

Playbill Ceases Operations for Touring Productions

It’s definitely not just Minneapolis. Numerous cities since the pandemic have stopped having programs altogether, and some have just switched to a different company. A quick Reddit search pulled up the following about Broadway Across America:

"This year Playbill suddenly decided to instead charge the BAA groups a couple million dollars. Negotiations unsurprisingly fell through, and many groups that host Broadway Across America shows (including the ones in the Midwest like CA

THE NOTEBOOK to Close on Broadway on December 15, 2024

No one owes you an explanation or source. That’s how people lose connections and jobs, but of course you don’t think about that.

Either enjoy the early spill or just keep it moving. I’ve never heard someone bitch more about getting news prior to the formal announcement.

Here’s a link to the letter shared in the new programs. Sad indeed, but there are other companies that could use the business and fulfill those duties.

Is there a way in which you could talk to the box office directly? Even if it’s not a SeatGeek policy, they may be able to help you out.

Audra McDonald-led GYPSY for 2024-2025 Season!

That photo looks nothing like Swenson or James.

For Burstein: “Among his many recordings is the musical Sweet Little Devil in which he introduced three George Gershwin, Buddy DeSylva songs. The score originally went unrecorded in 1924 and was finally recorded by PS Classics, with Burstein playing the role of Sam in 2012.”

Kad said: "Certainly seems like Burstein."

It was the ears for me.

My only other guess (based on this visual) would be Patinkin, but he’s on tour through 11/16 and back out in February with scattered dates through the spring. It could be done, but I think Burstein is more likely.

“But as I and others have said, I don't know what led them to think that Herbie could attract a star.”

1) See Queen of Versailles / F. Murray Abraham

2) It’s not like you need to tap dance & belt a high F while suspended 50ft in the air. It’s a fairly simple paycheck for a star who has the availability and want/need to work.

Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 9/15/24
 Sep 18 2024, 02:01:19 AM

My Playbills for Back to the Future, Good Night Oscar, A Beautitul Noise, and Almost Famous all list Universal Theatrical as Co-Producers, so I don’t know where you’re getting the idea that they have nothing to do with BTTF or that they’re making their Broadway debut with Death Becomes Her. Their Playbill bio even lists projects going back to Billy Elliot.

Spambot started with A (with row BB on the sides), if I remember correctly.

Hilty & Simard to lead DEATH BECOMES HER in Chicago spring 2024
 Sep 10 2024, 04:24:54 PM

I don’t see the word “every” on any of the press announcements or their Instagram post about it. They all say tickets will be available 50% while supplies last - some articles specify all preview performances, but not all tickets. They also said you may* get a pin, which a friend of mine did, so maybe you just weren’t randomly chosen. Not sure why non-Premium seats at 50% is a bad experience for you, but to each their own.

Would love to know what performance from this production you think would be fitting for the Macy’s broadcast.

Mezzanine overhang begins with row J of the orchestra. I personally recommend the mezz.

Thank you for this feedback. As much as I love some legends, I’ve seen them before and would prefer to spend my money on a more ‘important/must-see’ piece of work (as a whole). Different strokes.

SUNSET BOULEVARD 2024 West End Cast Recording Thread

I may just be stuck in my ways, but I prefer the longer tracks for the last few scenes. Regardless, very happy to have preordered this recording! Love that it was (supposedly) recorded live.

From what I’ve heard, this is “fine”. Other than the star casting, would you consider this “must see”?

SARAH BRIGHTMAN - Sunset Blvd in Sydney

…I have to ask, why even post that video? They should have filmed and a released a spot when the cover was on for almost the entire stop. Not a single note of that clip was enjoyable. I’m surprised ALW/RUG would even want that out.
