The Annual Kelli O'Hara "always a bridesmaid" Thread Apr 26

I love Kelli. Ever since I saw her in Piazza. The woman is an amazing singer and actress. And every year she turns in amazing performances, and every year she loses. She should have won for her beautiful, challenging work in "Piazza." She was a spit fire in "Pajama." Unfortunately, I fear it will be the same this year. Yes, I know, "she's young...she'll win. One day." For the record, I enjoyed Patti in "Gypsy" but wasn't knocked out. However, the buzz and the lack of win for "

That's right...the satgehands are just a part of the production that is run and owned by the producers. So why should the stagehands or unions have the right to tell the producers to hire a fly man when the show has no flys? Or hire 20 musicians when the oprchestration only needs 10? Or call an electrician in three hours before the show when they only are need an hour? We forget that the stagehands work for the producers, but it seems the unions have forgotten this.

Man..just reading these posts by roadguy and JustAGuy are enough to make anyone support the producers. Notice how when you are fighting a losing battle (as they are), you have to resort to name calling. Interesting that none of them have even bothered to address that fact about WHY their union does not have the same charity clause in their contracts as does Equity. Simple...Equity cares about the community. Local 1 couldn't give a ****. Just look at this union comment:

Thanks for the pics. It is so cool to see Kelli in action!! I met her at Piazza and she was so sweet! I don't know why people are saying "yawn" about her casting in South Pacific. She is an amazing lady! Does anyone know more about the OCU Summer Musical theater camp? It look amazing and better than the one I went to at Northwestern.

The race of a persosn would only be distracting if the person themselves made it distracting. Otherwise, there should be no problem. What about When Shanice & Lea Solonga played Eponine and her parents were white? Didn't seem to be a problem.
