I am a total theater whore. I go see shows way too often. Recently, I saw 6 plays in 6 days, which was a record for me. Umm I love Maryland Terrapins basketball, Jon Stewart, Bush-bashing, Juan Dixon, Rufus Wainwright...

I don't have nearly enough Broadway/RENThead friends, so feel free to PM or IM me.

Has anyone seen it at Studio Theater? I won't be able to make it and I haven't heard from anyone who's seen it.
re: HELEN HAYES AWARDS today in DC!
 Apr 18 2006, 07:31:22 PM
I remember her thanking the community and saying how great it was to get to come to DC for this and be appreciated. She thanked the judges I believe. She was just very gracious and humble. She also said she would share the award with Kendra. I believe someone already mentioned her talking about Stephen Shwartz asking her to sing the first three songs he wrote for Wicked so he could hear how they sounded aloud. Oh, and I agree with Harpo about Stephen Schmidt. He was great and he's a very n

I thought Stephanie's acceptance speech was very nice.
Franca's speech was painful. The explanation of her dream was so strange and unnecessary.
I was glad Urinetown did so well, as I thought that was very well done.
I had hoped Carolyn Pasquantonio would win for best lead female in a resident play partly because I know her and partly because I thought she was amazing. There were a few others that I hoped would win mostly because I knew them.
I was quite surprised col

Thanks so much, those clips were great. I love that there is so much explanation involved in pronouncing my name correctly. I respond to basically anything that starts with an L at this point. "Lisa? Leeza? Lizza? Liz?" I cannot wait for this.
Without You : A Memoir of Love, Loss, and the Musical Rent

Yay for Anthony. I've only read a passage, but I preordered it on Amazon. I thought it wasn't out yet? Yes, I love the way he writes as well. Did you know much about him before you started reading it?

Oy vey, how can you love the music without embracing the message of it? I don't even understand that. So much of the music is the amazing and uplifting message. I know the lyrics are not preachy, so you don't HAVE to accept Jonathan's beliefs to like the show, but the message of tolerance in the show is obvious enough that it should affect anyone who loves the music. But they deserve to ask Anthony any questions they have, and he deserves to get a chance to respond to their questions and may

I understand where you're coming from, but I would like to hear Anthony's response. I'm sure he would handle it very well, and possibly help her see it a different way. I'm sure he would change some people's opinions, even if he couldn't change her's. If I thought it would make him uncomfortable or if it was a situation where he couldn't respond I would say try to stop her from coming, but I think Anthony would have a great answer for that.

*swipes* Yes, I stole that word. It is definitely now in my vocabulary. Ooooh! I have someone who fits! He will be called adorkable many times today.

Oh where was it? Oh yes, and I have been reminded to plug The Shape of Things at Silver Spring Stage to anyone in the area. Good stuff.

Ok I gave up on reading this whole thread pretty quickly, but have discussed this a lot. I definitely think your opinion changes when you see the show, depending on whether or not the actors do justice to their roles. I saw Josh Davis and Betsy Morgan at the Everyman Theatre and they were both fantastic, so it's not like I really sympathize with one because the other was acted badly.
Before I saw it I assumed Jamie was to blame because he cheated on her. I think his part in this is more

I didn't think Idina was all that great in it. Adam was definitely the weakest link in terms of acting imo.

Welcome, newbie! Many people are confused about Wax Lion. Just don't even try to figure it out lol. Blockbuster is evil. The one near me only has bad popular romantic comedies and thrillers. Yes I've watched Wonderfalls on repeats occasionally. I thought it was on Logo? I certainly may have made that up. Yay no show for a week! It's good fun & all but I was there every night from Sat-Sat for at least 3 hours. Oy. *should be studying for exams*

You do? Haha haven't heard that before. Which part of MD?

Ooo I only missed 4 pages this time! How is everyone? Ahh we're almost on the second page... wrong. So opening night of The Shape of Things went well. Anyone who is anywhere near Silver Spring Stage in MD come see it. Watch me, dressed in all black, attempt (and fail) to gracefully move furniture on/off stage. Good stuff.

I saw both L5Y and ttb in Baltimore recently. I thought L5Y was incredible, and both actors were amazing. As for ttb, I really liked Evan's Jonathan, but I didn't enjoy the other two. I didn't really find the direction to be that great either, but I liked Evan's performance enough that it made up for it. He's in The Shape of Things right now at Silver Spring Stage, if anyone is in the area. I'm in the crew. I think it's a really great production.

Wow, I haven't been online in like 3 days. That never happens. We had a preview for The Shape of Things last night, which went well, considering the audience was senior citizens and some of the language was not what they usually hear. Opening night tonight! Friday the 13th, I know. Oy, I hope it goes well.

That exerpt from Anthony's book was amazing. I really love how he writes.

Yes, every time I look at him I think how adorable he used to be. I agree that time has not done good things for that man's looks. I probably won't be on for a few days, either. Adios!

Wow, that icon rocks my socks. Elphatine, somehow that movie comes up in a conversation almost every day with me. *wants to go watch it for the 100000th time*
