Please let us know what you think! A bit frustrating that of 36 posts on the preview thread, there's a total of one so far from someone who's actually seen the show.

It’s doable, if you don’t want to eat or use a bathroom. It’s a bit more than 8 blocks (through crowds) from the Broadway to the Lyceum, and Gatsby tends to run until past 4:30, so that’s the tightest turnaround.

Well, scrap that theory, then.

There will be another round of replacements after Jan 12:

The production, which is slated to run for 10 weeks, will begin performances on Dec. 11 at the H

Suffs should be on your list…I enjoyed it more than Outsiders, and WAY more than Water for Elephants or Gatsby. You also might want to look into Ragtime (amazing cast), Swept Away, Yellow Face, and Shit. Meet. Fan (with Neil Patrick Harris, Jane Krakowski, and Debra Messing). And if you’re there before Oh, Mary! closes on 11/10 (and can find a ticket), that really is a must-see.

Broadway Vocal Selections books - a thing of the past?
 Sep 4 2024, 02:38:50 PM

Like bryan32 who cherishes his Broadway CD collection, I've amassed over the years a large collection of vocal selections and vocal scores, and one of my favorite pastimes is sitting at my piano (alone or with friends who share my musical theater passion) and playing and singing through show after show. But while Hal Leonard or others used to come out with vocal selections for just about every musical that ran more than a week, it doesn't seem to be happening anymore. The most re

I sat at a table dead center and while it was great to be so close, my neck hurt from looking up at the significantly elevated stage. And I felt bad for the people at the side tables, who were looking at one or another of the actors’ backs for much of the play. I would de

Eva was swapped out for Traci Elaine Lee in the middle of the first act at today’s matinee. I seem to recall reading about that happening once before. Hope she’s ok.

3 SUMMERS OF LINCOLN at La Jolla Playhouse with Brian Stokes Mitchell & Carmen Cusack
 Aug 5 2024, 02:18:03 PM

World-premiere musical coming to La Jolla Playhouse in February 2025, with Brian Stokes Mitchell, Eric Anderson, Carmen Cusack, and Quentin Earl Darlington. Music by Crystal Monee Hall; lyrics by Daniel J. Watts and Joe DiPietro; book by DiPietri. Directed by Christopher Ashley.

From the Playhouse website: “Summer, 1862. The bloody conflict that was supposed to last only 90 days has now been raging for more than a year. President Abraham Lincoln must find a way to end the Civil War. Enter powerful abolitionist Frederick Douglass. If he can meet Lincoln face to face, he can help the president cement a vision of the future that ends slavery along with the war — all while preserving the Union. Just three meetings took place between the two men — pivotal conversations between two fierce and equally brilliant leaders that shaped the course of history.

“This gripping new musical marks the sixth Playhouse collaboration between Joe DiPietro and Christopher Ashley (including the hit shows Babbitt, Diana and Memphis) and they’re thrilled to be joined by composer Crystal Monee Hall and lyricist Daniel J. Watts. Their epic score blends gospel, R&B, powerhouse anthems and Broadway to tell the inspirational story of one of the most important friendships in our nation’s history, and that of a brutally divided country coming together.”

For those who saw the play at Atlantic - apart from the star power, how's the play? I only have a couple of remaining open spots in a packed November trip and am wondering if this should be competing for them with Our Town, Hills of California, Left on Tenth, Death Becomes Her, and Maybe Happy Ending.

Last Minute Trip - What to See?

Personally, I would pare that list down to & Juliet, Illinoise, Oh, Mary!, Stereophonic, & Suffs (although haven't seen Outsiders yet), with Stereophonic at the top.

According to the PAC box office, no, they're just taking the break to do some planned work on the building.  (But they also told me no extension last week, so take it for what it's worth.)
