What are the highest belted notes in a show for a girl?
What about for a dude?
Also, what are the highest notes written for a femal...nonbelted?
I"m guessing Kristin in Steel Pier for the last question, Che in Evita for #2, and I really don't know for #1 (all I know is it isn't Defying Gravity...so don't start).
Actually, Idina's last note isn't the highest she sings in the song. "I'm flying high, deFYing gravity" is higher.
I'd definitely say Shoshana's A in "Bless the Lord." I'm hard-pressed to think of others quite that high. Of course, she screams it more than belts it, but you know.
the character of Tony in West Side Story hits a high G above high C in "Tonight" and "Something's Comin" and a high A above high C in "Maria" as well as the "Tonight" reprise at the end of Act I. i know...i was Tony in my production and it's tough!
"Somethin's comin', I don't know what it is but it is gonna be great!"
It's like an E flat or F in full voice. That's high for a woman in full voice, but we're talking highest ever here. You can't compair Idina to the notes in Phantom of the Opera.
There's a light in the darkness of everybody's life.
I think Kristin hits a note in the end of "Thank Goodness" that could break glass.
"It does what a musical's supposed to do. It takes you to another world, and it gives you a little tune to carry with you in your head for when you're feeling blue."
WickedRocks, "the highest note in a show" isn't an opinion - its a question asking for a factual response. Therefore there is a right and wrong answer.
