Romelda Benjamin learned the show in 4 hours. She performed with a script in hand. Julie Reiber the swing stepped in to do all of the set and prop moves. Two of the most professional actors I've ever seen. Together they helped save an evening of live theater. I am in awe of their abilities.
"Chicago is it's own incredible theater town right there smack down in the middle of the heartland. What a great city! I can see why Oprah likes to live there!" - Dee Hoty :-D
yea that must have been interesting.. ohh script in hand, that's rough but commendable that she was able to go on and bascically save them.
A dancer might dream to see her name in lights and mean it,
but all she really dreams is to make someone
else feel the way she did when she first saw a dancer.

"Maybe I missed something, but why didnt the understudy know the part? Isn't her job to know the part and be ready to go on? "
The producers realized that the only way they can keep this show running was to keep cutting costs and only giving Ramona one understudy. If you take shortcuts, eventually it comes back to bite you. The missed revenue for the matinee is gonna hurt them.

Wow, bklyn really is amazing...I just hate those who diss it. This shoes how much everyone on the bklyn team has broadway in there heart.

Yea, emo geek you're so right - their heart is just so full.
Give me a break.
You do not send an understudy onstage with a script in her hand. It's abominable - the performance should have been canceled if they're too cheap to have more than one understudy. If I were in that audience, I would have demanded a refund if one of the actor's onstage had a script in her hand. PLEASE.

well, they know people are traveling from far and wide to see Bklyn, and they alrady let down a sold out performance once...they wanted to go with the famouse saying: The show must go on.

"offered everyone in the sold out audience tickets to see the show again."
That's not surprising because they have been papering the audience like mad anyway. This was just a more effiecient way to do it. a bet at least 1/3 of that audience were brought in by papering in the first place.

yeah, and I don't call it too cheap. They are new to broadway. I bet you know they are setting up for more understudies.
