I am a HUGE fan of women belters! I mean top of the lungs, make the rafters shake belting! Anyone know of great musical woman belting songs? Something like Eden in Once Upon a Time or Cady Huffman in When You Got It, Flaunt it!
(Martha Graham from a letter to Agnes de Mille) "There is a vitality, a life force, a quickening That is translated through you into action, And because there is only one of you in all time, This expression is unique. If you block it, It will never exist through any other medium And be lost. The world will never have it. It is not your business to determine how good it is, Nor how valuable it is, Nor how it compares with other expressions. It is your business to keep it yours, clearly and directly, To keep the channel open. You do not even have to believe in yourself or your work. You have to keep open and aware Directly to the urges that motivate you. Keep the channel open. No artist is pleased. There is no satisfaction whatever at any time. There is only a queer, divine dissatisfaction, A blessed unrest that keeps us marching And makes us more alive than others."
The Last 5 Years has Sherie Belting quite a bit..well maybe it's just her ability to hit high notes w/ ease..I like listening to her..
And the other thing about the Phantom Lady was, Bert, she realized, in the city that never sleeps...
What did she realize, Kitten?
That all the songs she'd listened to, all the love songs, that they were only songs.
What's wrong with that?
Nothing, if you don't believe in them. But she did, you see. She believed in enchanted evenings, and she believed that a small cloud passed overhead and cried down on a flower bed, and she even believed there was breakfast to be had...
Where?
On Pluto. The mysterious, icy wastes of Pluto.
patti lupone in evita sherie belts like no other of course, idina, shoshana, and eden...and the rest of the elphabas bernadette can belt out some good notes too also nancy opel

HUUUUUUUUUUUGE amen to sherie rene scott - her high note (i think it's probably an E...maybe E#) at the end of "here i am" was incredible live. i couldn't believe it.
"grace, you're stuffed in a box getting rid of ass plaque. let's face it, this evening is a bust."
Everything I have ever heard Jenna Leigh Green sing has been so bad! Are there any recordings that might change my perspective! very open minded!:)
