I love Ute. But she has said she's really not interested in doing a run in a musical right now. She enjoys the freedom of performing in cabaret/concert settings.
But honestly, this has Bebe's name written ALL over it. I think she would do it in a heartbeat also.
- Julia Murney - Bebe Neuwirth - she would be an AMAZING Morticia but I don't see it with her singing - Sara Ramirez - Donna Murphy - Eden Espinosa - she might be too belty for the role
I dont think Ramirez will be back to Broadway after tasting the life of a high paid series regular.
"The sexual energy between the mother and son really concerns me!"-random woman behind me at Next to Normal
"I want to meet him after and bang him!"-random woman who exposed her breasts at Rock of Ages, referring to James Carpinello
I'm not so sure. She said in an interview (forget where, maybe Ellen?) that she'd be interested in going back to Broadway. Maybe this role will be the vehicle that brings her back!
Bebe Neuwirth is ideal for Morticia. Cast her opposite Raul Esparza as Gomez and I'd come see this with bells on.
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.
No no no Raul Esparza as Gomez... it's just not exactly right.
John Herrera as Gomez.
Julia Murney as Morticia.
The makeup and wigs for a show like that are going to severely alter a person's appearance anyway. I think those two just have the spirit needed for those roles.

I chose, and my world was shaken- So what? The choice may have been mistaken,
The choosing was not...

Sarah Jessica Parker would be such a fabulous Morticia.

I think Sarah Jessica Parker is a fantastic actress, but Morticia she ain't.
"Some people can thrive and bloom living life in a living room, that's perfect for some people of one hundred and five. But I at least gotta try, when I think of all the sights that I gotta see, all the places I gotta play, all the things that I gotta be at"
"I adore Murney's talent and voice but Morticia has to be a Beauty dark eyes and great lips look at the drawings Idina fits it better I think"
With make-up, Julia Murney can be the perfect Morticia in terms of looks. She sorta has that "Old Hollywood" glamour about her(if that makes sense), which I think is something they are going to look for in casting Morticia. The right make-up artists can really do a lot with her look and transform her into Morticia. I also think her voice is right for the role.
Having a professional business relationship with Andrew Lippa is also a plus; I wouldn't be surprised if Murney is cast. It seems like the most logical choice. We need to see her originate more roles!
"We like to snark around here. Sometimes we actually talk about theater...but we try not to let that get in our way." - dramamama611
Ummm, I've heard the laugh and I still think she is hardly the most appropriate choice for the role and I love "No More." The thing about Bebe Neuwirth is not only the fact that she naturally could look like Morticia, but her poise, her look, her persona, and her voice all seem perfectly suited for the role. I like Julia Murney but I would hope Neuwirth or Jan Maxwell are considered before her.
