If I can recall from people posting here, she comes in this thing:
and that is covered by the clothes racks.
Think the dept. store entrance of the Broadway version of Take it like a man...if that makes sense. At least, that's how I'm imagining it from what people were saying..
Elle comes thru a doorway with a pink curtain. Sorta like she's coming out of a dressing room I guess. And in the performance I saw on Saturday night, Megan (isn't it Lewis?) did NOT hit the note like Kate Shindle does at the end of LB Remix. In fact, I was kinda dissapointed cuz I was waiting for it and she was sort of drowned out by everyone else. she did hit it when she sang "You've got the best frickin shoes" though.
i feel like this title should be changed to 'legally blnde tour'
ah they said goodbye to rhode island today hope everyone gets to see it if they live near baltimore! should be a great show and theyre there for a while :)
Natalie looks and sounds great. But wtf with the sets! the hair salon doesnt look like a hair salon! they lost the chairs and it looks really lame. and whats with the light box wings that is really far down? and why is there only one wing that has a light box?! cheap skates much?
I'm pretty sure they actually do have chairs for the hair salon. I know the footage was taken during a rehearsal, not during an actual show. Hopefully the hair salon looks better.
I read her review earlier. Frankly, the critic seemed a little dim-witted. She made the mistake of going into the show with the sole expectation that it would be like the movie. The musical and movie can't be compared. They have different motives. The musical's creative team aimed more to please with comedy and fluff while the movie, still a comedy itself, took Elle's story more seriously. I also was kind of offended that the critic saw Becky Gulsvig as an ersatz copy of Reese Witherspoon. Was she not watching anything? The musical's book really prevents anyone from emulating Witherspoon anyway.
i just back from seeing the show today. I saw it on Broadway twice, and i heard there were a couple of changes made to the tour so i did not really know what to expect. I actually think that too many changes were made. Some needed to be made like some of the big set peices, but some were uneccessary.I really think they could have gotten a fifth person to complete "woods" instead of using a bag in "so much better" I think alot of the major changes should have been left alone. There changes in the dialogue, songs, set, costumes, and choreography(i really liked the new choreography)
The cast as a whole is really great, especially the ensemble. In my opinion as a whole the guys were better singers than the girls. Some of the standouts were:
Becky(Elle)- I think she has gotten better since Broadway. She added some really nice riffs, and had a very young sounding voice(not a change). Her acting has also gotten alot better.
Megan( Vivienne)- I really like her portrayal, although i do think that she could have been meaner. She has a very strong rich voice. I heard that she did not do the high note in the remix, but she did do it today.
Cortney(Serena- I love her! She was amazing as Serena( i actaully liked a little bit more than Tracy)She has a very good voice and great comedic timing.
Rhiannon( Margot)- Ok, I really disliked her in the reality show. There was nothing I really liked about her. She was the highlight of the show! i really enjoyed her performance. Her acting is great, and her voice has gotten alot better since the show. She also got alot of laughs.
Natalie(Paulette)- Natalie was an ok Paulette. She has a very clear high pitched voice. Not saying that was a bad thing, but i really enjoyed the raspiness of Orfeh's voice. She really shined during "The Bend and Snap" and the scene before that. HILARIOUS!
Coleen(Brooke)- She is really great in this role. Great singer, and fantastic comedic timing. By the way.........she is very pretty.
DB(Emmett)- One of the best voices in the company. I really liked his line delivery. He made unfunny lines funny(if that makes any sense) LIke i said very strong, rich voice.
Overall, it was a great show, although i preferred the broadway company to this one, but i am sure with time everyone will be completely on there game. I give it a B and would say go see it. thanks!
PS- did anyone see the wicked tour last year in baltimore? Who did you see as elphaba? i for some reason have an understdy slip in my playbill that says coleen went on, but i dont think she went on in baltimore. How do a i post pictures? Updated On: 10/4/08 at 08:52 PM
