Now that playbill.com only highlights the most popular news stories which stay on the top of their news page based on popularity... where is everyone getting their breaking broadway news?
I used to read playbill.com several times a day, but now I'm finding that it's the same articles posted up there for days at a time. The top article up there right now was posted on March 31st... It's April 4th... that ain't news honey... that's history.
I like broadwayworld's news feed (obviously) but they literally post every single press release they get and so it can be hard to keep up with that amount of news and decipher what's really important. Does anyone have any other suggestions????
I almost posted a thread like this! I used to read Playbill a couple times a day, but since the revamp I barely go there (sometimes not for days). I find watching the first few minutes of the Live at Five videos posted every evening on the broadway.com Youtube channel, is like basically watching a newscast that goes over the day's top stories.
Keeping up with my twitter feed is a full time job... I just want to go to ONE place and see the news once a day... lol... is that too much to ask... if only there were like a piece of large paper that had all of the news printed on it... Wouldn't that be something????
Ohhhhh... Broadwaystars.com seems like a good choice... a little TOO MUCH info on there but it seems like at least someone is curating the info somewhat.
and also... I'm gonna seem like a total idiot... but what the hell is an RSS feed?
I still read playbill everyday out of habit even though half the time I don't know where to look. Also this site obviously. And when there is any big news, it'll show up via 10-15 theater pages that I follow on Facebook.
It's interesting to hear that Playbill was the default for so many of you. For me, Playbill and BWW have always been pretty interchangeable for me in terms of where I got my news. Though BWW has always had a bit of an edge since I come here for the message board, like Kad said.
I've always gotten my news from BWW. There can be more of it to wade through, but it always seems to be up the fastest and easiest to click to more content, videos, etc. Twitter and Facebook are #2 and #3, but usually the links bring me back here.

It did need fixing, but what was changed wasn't what they needed. The site was looking dated, but it should've kept its straightforward layout and improved photo gallery format, hired a copy editor or three, and stopped giving us daily Lin-Manuel sneeze reports. Not this weird mobile-on-desktop, too-yellow, infinite-scroll mess.

I always read Playbill for the news and came here for the chat board. I also hate the new Playbill, the response time sucks too, so I rarely go there anymore. Hopefully, they will make changes to address what seems to be pretty consistent hate for the new release.
Count me in as another one who isn't a fan of the new Playbill. It is disappointing and they were always my go-to as their site was the easiest to read. (I also interned there as an undergrad so it was a little bit of a personal preference for me as well.) I now use BroadwayWorld the most frequently.
