I'm a little confused. Do people not think Alison will close out the run of Waitress in January?
If you don't think she will, who do you predict will? I'm not talking dream casting like I've seen elsewhere, I'm talking realistically, who would they cast to close out the show?
A lot of people have said it’s possible for Sara B. to come back and close it out, especially because she has done the role multiple times before and can command a higher ticket price for those last few lucrative holiday weeks before closing

I mean, this probably would happen even if she wasn't closing the show but I did notice a ticket price hike once the announcement was made (and even the night before). You could be right. I've seen that a lot of people want Stephanie Torns to close it out since shes been there since the very beginning, since the A.R.T. run, but you could definitely be right.

Would make sense as her last show on her album tour is November 26th. I am sure that is the plan.

I've seen people murmur about Jason Mraz being the final Pomatter too since his tour ends right around the same date. Dunno if that'll happen though; Sara is certainly the likelier of the pair given it's her show.
Sara has poured so much of her heart and soul into every aspect of its existence. I can’t imagine her not being the one to close the show, especially since her schedule seemingly allows the right timing. I’d love to see her and Gavin do another run together.
So I'm seeing Waitress its closing week, and I'm still so curious as to who will be the closing cast! I doubt Drew Gehling will come back, as he's doing Almost Famous. I don't really think it's likely Jessie will come back, so right now I am thinking Sara is the most likely to close it out...although I do wish they'd give Stephanie Torns at least some time in between when Allison leaves and whoever is closing the show comes in. She deserves it so much. I was discussing this with a friend yesterday and thought it'd be so interesting...you know how the OG Ogie from the movie played Ogie in the musical...imagine if Kerri Russell took voice lessons and came in to close out the show...that'd be so cool. Of course, that's my ridiculous early brain thinking.
I wouldn't be surprised if Sara comes in and they film the show with her before it ends. With her music, and now Broadway fandom, I think that could have a great deal of commercial appeal for a cinema release, or network airing...and future DVD sales. This creative team would likely want the show preserved.

I don’t see that happening. Users of this board have explained in different details how much of a headache it is to film Broadway shows under Equity. I wouldn’t be surprised if they filmed UK Waitress for that purpose, as its apparently easier to film there. I would love to see Sara come back. She was fantastic in the role.
I would love for Sara to come back. She's still my favorite Jenna and I don't think anyone can sing those songs the way she does because they play so well to her voice. But I don't know why people think that the end of her tour suggests that she'll jump right into the show. Touring is tiring. Maybe they could find another Jenna and she could close out the last 2-3 weeks of the show. That's as optimistic as I'm prepared to be right now.

I'm sure it has been preserved for the Lincoln Center archives. Nearly every show is filmed for that purpose. The exceptions are usually tjose that simply fold too quickly to arrange it.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

Maybe Alison will extend past Sept 15? I think Mark went in knowing he wasn't extending, since he's got his wedding scheduled for shortly after that (!!!!!) and posted on his instagram the day it was announced that he was only in until Sept 15 but I wonder what this means for Ali...
