I'd settle for Colbert. It would be nice to have someone new & fresh host the awards.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
"Twitter for Tony Awards tweeted: "@TheTonyAwards: Stay tuned for some #TonyAwards news....." So maybe we will find out the host today!"
I thought so too, but unless there's another announcements coming today, the "news" was simply that Mary Louise Parker and Bruce Willis would be announcing the nominations on the 28th of April.
It is possible that the host could be preparing before an announcement is made. There is no rule stating that rehearsals can't start until the information is made public.
^I think that's a good idea because if I were Neil, I would've done the same thing. Plus I think it would probably be a little more exciting to have him back next year for the 70th Tony Awards.
When are they going to realize that the same 7 million people who actually give a crap about the Tonys are going to tune in no matter who hosts. Getting a celeb to host and loading the telecast with movie stars does not boost ratings.
I would love for Laura Benanti and Lin Manuel to host!
Of course it does. If the Tonys did not promote all the celebrities that would be on the telecast, there would definitely be a drop in ratings. Plus, promoting that celebrities have an interest in the theater has the potential to introduce Broadway to an audience who would otherwise not tune in.
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

Looks like there might be two hosts. Paul Wontorek also said on his periscope that he knows one of them for sure. This is pretty exciting. My guess is Corden and Colbert.
I think I've mentioned it here before, but Corden is hosting the CFDA awards that same week. I would put him in NY but would he really host two award shows in the same week?!
Jeffrey, I could see that happening, but I hope not! I can usually find the positive in things, but Broderick is just so dull. I suppose Lane will make up for that lack of personality like he's been doing in their partnership for the last few years.
It has been 2pm for that date since they announced the last extension but maybe since it is Tony day so people can attend? I actually would love to see any combination of Lane/Broderick/Short as Tony hosts.
The only review of a show that matters is your own.
