"Wedding Singer should've gotten at least nominated for Lighting Design." umm, well, really Sweeney should have been nominated (and then won) for lighting.
Beyond that, as was already said, Tonya Pinkins not Winning for C,oC, Sweeeney losing to PJG
Spamalot beating Light.
when ducks grow thumbs then maybe my opinion will change.
There are a couple that I felt were not justified:
1. Wicked NOT winning for best musical (and I saw Caroline or Change w/ Tonya and I have seen Wicked, Idina definitly had the edge on the best lead actress in a musical)
2. The Full Monty not winning for anything, what a waste!!! How dispicable! What a great show completely run out of town.
3. Dirty Rotten Scoundrels losing just about every award to Spamalot. I can't really judge since I have not seen Spamalot just because the desire in Monty Python is limited here.
4. The Wedding Singer robbed at this past year's Tony's. They should have at least walked away with best costume design. What a shame!!!
and for the record, I love the Last 5 Years!!! They should make some sort of nationally televised awards for those off broadway shows that I see as well. They should be recognized especially TL5Y.
I made a list of all your faults, it was quite detailed and lengthy too and when I read it through I missed you. Your like a classic Eagles song, you just cant help but sing along even though it sometimes gets annoying too. I just know I want to be wherever I can wake and see you there next to me. **High Fidelity**
Love is what I do **The Wedding Singer**
Xanadu - Best NEW Musical of the Season!
I'm still astounded that the show with the best music, the best book and the best direction somehow was not the best musical..(Urinetown losing to Millie).
It is amazing to me that a show can win best score and best book and lose the best musical Tony. Urinetown, Parade, Ragtime, I thought Ave Q was going to suffer the same fate, yet I was pleasantly surprised it was awarded the best musical Tony.
theres to many can you say marin mazzie. ragtime not winning into the woods not winning jersey boys im sorry dont kill me megan lawrence should have won ahhh theres sooooo many more
I think it was so weird that Kelli O'Hara got nominated for featured actress. I feel like she is definitely a leeding actress, espically if they put Glinda in that category the year before. It was odd to me.
"Lachanze winning kinda confused me after hearing so many critics saying "she plays too long of a time span!" and made a few other jabs about her. " Well, it's not her fault that she got cast in a show that covers 40-some years.
she was brilliant. The show was brilliant. She was robbed 100%
"Picture "The View," with the wisecracking, sympathetic sweethearts of that ABC television show replaced by a panel of embittered, suffering or enraged Arab women" -the Times review of Black Eyed
the fact that marin mazzie doesn't have a tony is a crime.
but in recent times, i have to jump on the bandwagon and say everything with "sweeney" this year got screwed. the show, michael (UGH!!!) and patti should have had those awards HANDS DOWN.
* Spamalot winning over Light and DRS. * DRS not winning more Tony's * PLG Winning over Sweeney * Into the Woods not winning many awards
"Broadway is a very special place, filled with very special people, people who can sing and dance, often at the same time!
They are a different people, a multi-talented people, a people...who need people...and who are, in many ways, the
luckiest people in...the world." --Spamalot

<< Me and Norbie. I look icky becuase I was FREAAAAKKKIIINNNGG out.
Aida not for Musical or Featured actress/Sherie DRS not for costumes or direction Janine not for Seussical Piazza not for musical Drowsy not for musical
Let us milk the cow that is theatre-Monica Trausch
Jersey Boys beating Drowsy Chaperone.....unoriginal music can't win best musical even if the script is brilliant!!
I'm thankful that the Tony committee is more open-minded than you are. The award isn't for Best ORIGINAL Musical...it's for Best PRODUCTION of a Musical.
And JERSEY BOYS was the superior production.
Sorry.
No wait...I'm not.
