Borstal, your signature almost made choke on a cookie. I remember and love that line!

Agreed, Rathnait62. If I skipped out on my job three to four times a week, I'd get fired.

I only want to work from 8pm-10pm, 3 days a week. Is that okay boss?

And on 2 of those 3 days, can I just phone it in?

Borstal, Nichols gets a percentage of the box office. It behooves him to make sure his ticket-selling stars are showing up.

Grr. Now give her Tony to Kelli O'Hara. Who really deserves it.

That'd be great.

I love it!

Is the whole "missed performances" thing the reason why Audra isn't doing SEE WHAT I WANT TO SEE?

I think Audra was unable to do that due to schedule conflicts.

hahaha on ATC someone posted that these frequent abscences should be called Murphy's Law. In honor of Donna.

I don't think anyone is losing money because she calls out. It is one thing if there are massive walkouts because she isn't in it, but that isn't happening.

Well to be fair (of sorts) Murphy is a hypocondriac. She may not have actually been sick, but she missed all those shows because she THOUGHT she was sick. Crazy Fosca!

morosco, that is priceless.

And badd, I think the problem is that she's not the only problem - just the worst problem.

Yeah, I don't see massive walkouts if she isn't in. That would happen more in a show like Charity.

and um, do you guys think Donna will get to lead another Broadway musical after all her WT abscences?

It's interesting that Tuesday evening shows are mentioned in the article. We went this Tuesday and the entire cast was in, including Sara. At the stage door (the cast who came out was incredibly nice and gracious), several cast members mentioned that Tuesday night audiences are generally the least responsive groups of the week. They said that we were a very energetic and great audience in contrast to the other Tues crowds (I don't think they were just saying that since the audience was really into the show). All cast members, except Sara exited through the stage door.

I totally agree with Rath. It is their job. And we are paying good money to see them do it! Don't hate me, but based on seeing the Tony's and hearing the OBCR, I still have no desire to see this show and I don't think she is really all that. The fake Gospel/R&B thing she does is a bit tired. Just my opinion.

Just give the world Love.

The show is going to do well whether or not Ramirez is there. It has a built-in fanbase and is sold out until Kingdom Come. She probably figures that she can take off as much as she likes because no one (save for a few hardcore theater fans like us) know her from Adam.

Frankly, other than theater geeks, no one cares about Sara Ramirez. I went during previews with a group of six and she was out. No one cared--as long as Tim, Hank and David were there. However, maybe the Tony has given her a higher profile.

What kind of sense does that make? Does that mean all the chorus people can take off three shows a week too if they don't feel like going to work? Most people don't know them either.

This is sad news as I am a huge fan of Ms. Ramirez.

I also feel extremely lucky because I managed to catch her at the stage door after a Thursday evening and she couldn't have been nicer to me.

Rathnait62, as I stated in earlier postings on this thread, I agree with you that what she is doing is unprofessional and wrong. I was just trying to find some logic in her string of constant absences.

I have enver been a fan of Sara's. She is out way more than in, a huge Diva and really, what has she got to be stuck up about?!

Kelli deserved that Tony, she is a great performer and a sweet girl. I am still in shock over Donna's "over 100 performances missed." wow . . .

I don't think whether Sara's being on or off makes that much difference to the audiences. Of course it'd be fun to see her perform to see that Tony winning performance, but they've got a great understudy for The Lady Of The Lake - Rosena M. Hill. Saw her do the role last week and she has a little bit work ahead to get the comedy really out of the role - she wasn't as funny as she could have been but she has an AMAZING voice!! Her belt in the end of "Find your Grail" was totally awesome - much stronger than Sara's on cd. I haven't heard Sara do it live, but according to what I've heard her live version of it is stronger and better. But once Ms Hill gets more experience doing the role I think she'll be absolutely fantastic in it!

I think David Hyde Pierce does deserve a gold star (if not for attendance, then for his incredibly kind attitude toward the fans!). I'm not one for calling in sick, myself, but not even taking much in the way of vacation time? Tim wasn't in it when I saw the show, and I didn't miss him---my favorites were DHP and Michael McGrath---what fun those 2 were!!
