Woman in White is the number one answer that comes to mind though. *sn**
"Don't worry, it should never be seen. It's comparable to Britney's hoo-ha." - being.jeremiah in response to the High School Musical 2 logo
"You look fantastic, all you need are high heels, cake and a dream." - Amneris
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang? I thought it was good actually.
Phantom of the Opera
"I'm tellin' you, the only times I really feel the presence of God are when I'm having sex and during a great Broadway musical." - Nathan Lane - Jeffrey
I don't really have anything to add, but this is sort of a crucial time for a thread like this.
Shows that have been on Broadway for a long time (like The Producers) could quite possibly see a very speedy revival due to people just having been used to it being around, so its therefore revived (does this ring a Les bell?)
As much as I hate voiding a thread subject as a whole, I feel "never say never." A friend is doing a concert of the 80's flop sequal Bring Back Birdie, so for the sheer campy value things can be revived (if not in a new incarnation a la Sweeney). Lestat could be re-opened as a farce in 15 years, ya never know...
I love America. Just because I think gay dudes should be allowed to adopt kids and we should all have hybrid cars doesn't mean I don't love America.
[turns and winks directly into the camera]
- Liz Lemon (Tina Fey) on 30 Rock
Beauty and the Beast Aida- even they I love this show Phantom of the Opera- at least not for a very very long time Grease- after this one lets all pray Woman in White The Boy from Oz Anyone Can Whistle
"Passion can drive you crazy but is there any other way to live"
Phantom won't be revived? Grease? OK I have to go away from this thread cause the silliness of some of these answers are giving me a nosebleed. I'll just say, if the show made a lot of money, someone will revive it someday. OK?
though it seriously pains me to say this, i don't think "the boy from oz" will be revived either. unless of course it's with hugh himself. in which case, i will be the first person in line for tickets. and yes, i know it's in austrailia, but i'm talking broadway here.
hear my song; it was made for the time when you don't know where to go, listen to the song that i sing, you'll be fine..
And I think its rather pathetic that CERTAIN People (you know who you are) get off on putting other people's OPINIONS down on these threads. If your opinion doesn't happen to match someone else's, SO WHAT? That's why it's called an OPINION. People having different opinions on these boards is what makes them INTERESTING. I'm not saying you shouldn't be able to express your own opinion, but don't bash someone else because their opinion is different from yours! GROW UP! Updated On: 11/25/06 at 02:36 PM
Footloose coz the broadway version was awful but it will continue to be a huge hit around the world now that the gastly broadway feel of it has been scrapped.
as for the person who said I can see the Producers being revived but not Avenue Q or Rent - the messages are current and people 30 years from now may not be able to relate to them.
Well if aids has been cured by then maybe Rent wont but sadly i dont see that happening, plus Rent is just as relevent today as it was 10 years ago sadly.
Namo i love u but we get it already....you don't like Madonna
"I can see the Producers being revived but not Avenue Q or Rent - the messages are current and people 30 years from now may not be able to relate to them."
Ridiculous. Revivals rarely come back as exact incarnations of the originals. Tweaks are made, concepts are used, songs cut and added, and they become new pieces. The lyric of Avenue Q that pertains to today could very easily be altered to be edgy for the period in which it is revived.
Rent WILL be revived. Probably multiple times.
As far as people "not being able to relate". Absurd. Rent can and will be played as a period piece just as most of the R&H musicals now are.
The original run of Oklahoma! was from 1943-1948. The themes of the show at that time were relevant and even a bit "edgy". Has the show been revived? Yes. 3 times, even as recently as 3 years ago, and you can bet it will be revived many more times.
What is relevant today will be nostalgia tomorrow. And it will still play.
